Sharps Disposal?

Anyone have any idea where I can dispose of my sharps? I have a real red biomedical waste container and intend to get another one to keep my needles in. How should I dispose of it? Is there a place to usually drop it off? or is there a place I could mail it to?

put it in a brown paper bag or something incospicious like a mcdonalds bag and throw it in any public garbage can...

Just put the cover back on the pin, put the syringe back in the plastic wrapper. I wrap in a paper towel or 2, then put in my trash.

seriously tho, i recap mine and keep them stored in old 5lb jugs of protein. when its full i throw it in the dumpster.

I'm diabetic... My nurse told me to put all my used sharps in a milk jug, tape the top down, place in a black garbage bad, then place in a trash disposal at my apartment complex.

I had planned on this course of action, only a few squirts of Great Stuff before actually tossing it.

In the Uk we have pin exchange program, were we give are pinzs back and we get new ones. If I was in your position I would do what big bird said and use a empty 5lbs protein tub. Wait till it is full seal it and dispose. You could fill it with plaster of paris before you seal it then it would IMO be safe.

I use a cheap pair of wire cutters and chop up the pins over the trash can. Then the barrel, I usually run my tap, suck up some hot water, squirt clean and chuck in the trash. That way no one can get stuck with the pins and the barrels are clean (good for a variety of reasons)

I throw mine on the elementary school playground. It's easier that way...I just toss them out of the car as I pass by. The playground is right beside the street as opposed to the woods which is behind the school which would cause me to spend more gas driving around the school and having to get out of my car!
