Squat, Goddamn!

That clip is nothing but the truth. Powerlifting is the squat, bench, and deadlift. There is nothing like feeling really heavy weight on your back and doing a full squat with it.

i feel the same way as that last guy i would like to ask alot of people i see on a daily basis are you afraid.... because you sure seem it. Nothing is more irritating then going in on chest day watching a beach boy overtain his chest when you need to do two sets

Maybe some of these powerlifters want to be able to walk when they are in there 40's?

I don't get why someone would care if they did all 3 or not tbh... Less competition for them is how I would see it and be happy lol.

Saw that larry pacifico was in the clip..... Have any of you seen him in person? Legs are in terrible shape, like 2 metal poles. Not saying for sure it is from all those super heavy squats or some other cause, but I would guess it was from them.

The squat is the greatest lift out of the three. If you don't squat you can't consider yourself a powerlifter. You are then a bench specialist. Powerlifting is a combination of the 3 lifts in a meet situation. I have nothing against bench specialists, I think it is great, and they are all putting up some impressive numbers. Shit, I wish when I was competing I had those bench numbers. I can tell you one thing I am proud to have totaled elite in the 242 and 275 classes in the APF and IPA and being a real powerlifter. Powerlifting= squat, bench, and deadlift.

SQUAT

I just turned 50....

I was a BB'er then changed to powerlifting....220's, 242's and 275....I was mid to upper 700's in the squat....below average bencher..

regrets

i'm in my 50's and have been around gyms for many years. i knew alot of powerlifters over that time and almost everyone of them now regrets the heavy squats they did over the years. the sport will tear you up over the long haul.....knees, lower back, shoulders and elbows were not designed to bear those loads.

maximal effort loads supported by suits/wraps etc. probably not...

which doesnt mean that you should shun away from squatting/deadlifting

you know what is the MAIN cause of lower back pain in the modern world?

WEAK SPINAL ERECTORS

Ok to anyone who feels squats are not part of being a powerlifter then diet has nothing to do with being a bodybuilder....Squats do not hurt the legs but poor form does and it is sad but true most people will sacrifice form for more weight. Stay tight, look ahead and f'ing squat until you puke.....

that last guy is Kirk Kirkowski. check this out:

wow that video sure was impressive! I know when you guys say that squating can tear your knees up its true but that message tells people that squating in general does, which it doesnt. The average enhanced male should be able to rep 405 5 times imo, it disgusts me that someone can be enhanced and not train legs, worthless imo.

My 1st Squat...

My very 1st competition squat was 500,340-350 bench and a 500 DL...I was all natural...It was the States 1982

I was sure I was going to win the competition too...I was the strongest guy around and in the gym...yea right

Then these monsters came from Providence with there 500 bench and there 700 lb squats and deads....I didn't have a clue...They were insane and so was I...So from that competition I became friends with these heavy hitter's and trained with them for the duration....I also knew they were juicing but didn't know where to get it,where to buy it, which pharmacy to use and which Dr.'s were writting scripts....and what to use...

My 2 favorites were squats...and anadrol

The Squat

Bottomline for everyone here, in particular newbies. If you want mass, everywhere from your tippy toes to the top of your head then SQUAT. My body has always been thick and powerful from regular training, but when I made the squat a regular part of my training, everything just changed and grew. Since I train DC and biceps are on leg day, I look forward to the squat. Biceps are something I love to train and since they fall on leg day, i have no choice but to Squat when it is in the rotation.

Now its to the point where I love to squat, I cant wait for that day to come. There is NOTHING like having 500lbs+ on your back, stepping back with it, and going to work. Every other exercise pales in comparison. The deadlift is awesome as well, but if your not squatting then I really think your missing out on your full potential...
