Squatting with Heals on Plates or Wearing Boots with Heals?

I still lift in wrestling shoes (old habits die hard) - cheap and flat on the bottom. How deep is deep? I get to parrallel (maybe slighly below) and my calves and hams are resting on each other... I don't think I could go any lower no matter what I did. Is it possible that everyone's kinesiology is just different enough to prevent ONE definitive way of squatting?

Yes. Some people are more flexible than others and people have different limb lengths. This affects stance width, depth, angle of pronation in the lower leg, grip width, bar placement, etc. The general motion of squatting is pretty much the same, but these details affect how your squat looks. The take home message is to stretch your muscles, tendons, ligaments so that you can go as deep as possible (depth being an individual thing).

Squat in barefeet or your a girly man

Does anyone use a front squat harness? Their is a company here in NZ that sells a kool one. I know alot of the professional rugby teams here use stuff like it.

I have never tried it but looks interesting, Ive never had too much success with front squats but I am thinking of getting back into them. I like to squat heavy only ever other week and do things like front squats and hack squats on my other session.

Does anyone here rep out 5 or 6 plates like Ronnie Coleman, I must admit thats kinda impressive for a man with such small legs ha ha a joke- they obviously worked for his quads.

Shoes also..!

Have you considered to invest in squating shoes..?...There a little on the high side but I feel there well worth it...Its a shoes with a hard sole with a wedge built into the heel......
Plates are a cheaper alternative but if there's not on a rubber mat they'll move on ya...and if your squating and want to move your stance the shoes would be a better choice....

Those harnesses suck if your shoulders are too big or too wide fit into them. And if you want to use an oly grip (not the cross over grip) then youll want to skip on them too.
