Sylvester Stallone says he used human growth hormone to get buff for the new "Rambo" movie, and defends its use.

"HGH (human growth hormone) is nothing," the 61-year-old actor tells Time magazine in its Feb. 4 issue. "Anyone who calls it a steroid is grossly misinformed."

Because it is nearly undetectable, HGH has become a substance of great concern in major league baseball and other sports battling allegations of rampant doping.




"Testosterone to me is so important for a sense of well-being when you get older," he says. "Everyone over 40 years old would be wise to investigate it because it increases the quality of your life. Mark my words. In 10 years it will be over the counter."

Stallone directed and co-wrote the new "Rambo" movie, which arrived in theaters Friday.

i respect him for speaking out, i saw the clip when he was interviewed on tv and he actually spoke up. that and he looked about 20years younger than he really is.

CONGRATS TO HIM.. heis gthe only one that has had the balls in the hesteria to tell the truth.. he even came out in time magazine and other interviews recently and said that testosterone and hgh are vital to well being ect... he said that he believes that hgh and test will be over the counter in 10 years "mark my words" (his quote) .. maybe not but, still good to hear him speak up.. now if arnold would get some balls ...

You know its people like this...high profile, rich and powerful people who are NOT competitive athletes - like those implicated in the Signature RX scandels
(50cent, Mary J Blige...) who can actually speak up and make a difference. This is a start, and hopefully there will be more to follow. Its awesome that Sly, especially in the climate of ANTI steroids/hgh in this country, had the balls to speak his mind. I am glad to see someone in the entertainment industry tell the truth. Like Mike S said, if more high profile personalities would fess up and tell the real story it would put the gov't and media on the spot for sensationalizing and shit talk.
