stallone in death race 2000 (1975) and Rocky (1976)

Just finished watching an old movie deathrace 2000. Stallone looked like he barely lifted a weight in a shirtless scene. A year later in Rocky he looked awesome. Talk about a transformation. Couldnt find pics from death race on the web.
Any word on his routine, diet, etc from back then.
