I am curious how many on here are bikers, or own a bike and have gone to Sturgis???
Countrychic and i have our rooms booked and are anxious for August to roll around, we are riding our Harley from Canada to the event, arriving the day before and leaving the day after...Are many from here going or have you been and what are some of the hilites??
We are taking in Mt. Rushmore and a few other rides, just looking for some things to focus on for that week..
Thanks in Advance.

I USED TO LIVE IN STURGIS.......WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?

Loved it!

I myself have a H-D Softail that I absolutely love. I have been to Sturgis and all I can say is that it was some of the most fun I ever had! It sounds like you have laid out some great plans.
Have Fun,
Topfuel

I have not been to the event, i am curious as to what some of the main attractions are, other than viewing the bikes and some good bands etc..
Basically some good ideas as to what to take in and what was deemed as lame and not worth it...
I want to go on ome rides etc..But as we are riding some 30 hours, it wont be a bad thing if we had some other activities to take in...
Congrats on the future arrival as well Phil, you and your fiance must be anxious...
Do you ride??
Thanks folks.

My old man goes every year. I have personally never been but I grew up on bikes and got my first at 16yo. I have had all types of bikes over the last ten years but my favorite so far is my Ironhorse Outlaw (black of course). Not the most comortable ride but damn it looks sick. I just feel bad for HF everytime we put her pad on the fender so she could ride.

Sounds like a sweet ride bro...I might start a thread on bikes and pics....
Maybe this yr could be your first to hit up Sturgis Rally...It will be ours and hopefully a new tradition...
Ive been riding a long time as well, but just started to get the itch to see Sturgis with my own eyes as opposed to viewing on the web...
There is nothing like having your knees in the breeze for sure, i just parked mine for a few months as we recvd some snow...sigh..

Another great reason to live in Az. Nov and December riding is perfect here. Now July...that's another story. Much like driving 80mph in the oven.

My father lives in Sturgis. Been there many times. You should swing through Wyoming and see Devils Tower..couple hours southeast is the Badlands...lots of fun vacation stuff to do in the Black Hills area..

awesome thanks, this is the kind of info we are looking for. :)

If you want it more on the wild side, check out Buffalo chip campground. Big name bands play there and law enforcement is not invited.
Also the town of deadwood is really cool too, gambling is legal there.

Cool we are staying in deadwood.....
Buffalo chip campground sounds like we are going to have to give it a whirl as well....

I RIDE

I have been riding for years but just bought a new super glide last year, haven't been to sturgis yet but will be planning that trip one of these years for sure. I hear it's a trip.;)

Was stationed in the military at Great Falls, Montana. The ol' Lady and I rode to Strugis every year while I was there. If you are a biker, it is a MUST! It is one of the most exciting and memorial events I've ever been to in my life. Everything about it is kick ass and makes you feel like a million dollars. Every single Restaurant, Gas station, and bar is PACKED with bikes for thousands and thousands of miles around Sturgis during Bike Week. The main drag is about a mile or two long and takes like 45 minutes to ride down the whole road! Everything about it is an absolute blast. Go to their website and check out the events. Some of the good concerts and events are held at the Buffalo Chip and Glencoe. No matter were you go, there is always something going on and it's always a blast.

I will post a pic of my ride when i get home...
It is a 2005 Fatboy, i ripped all the aluminum, and plastic off of every piece on my bike and replaced with triple dip harley chrome, total new front end, dressed my bars, beefed my engine to a big bore 95 incher with 11 to 1 compression with decompressors for start up, new advanced ignition, cams, hi flow heads, intake, exhaust etc. etc.....needs 94 octane to really purr, but i absolutely love it ..
Black and chrome, mean machine....
