trip to the bayou

hey fellas, i always receive great advice on traveling through pro muscle, so here i am again with a question.

my buddy and i want to roadtrip to the bayou. i love the south and i have always dreamt of seeing the bayou. i was figuring baton rouge is the place to go, correct? any advice on good bars/nightlife down there? we want to meet girls, eat great cajun food, etc. i know new orleans is crazy, so maybe that?

The best BBQ ribs I ever ate were in Baton Rouge right off I-10 at a place called TJ Rib's - literally fall-off-the-bone.

In NO, I've stayed in a hotel on St Charles Ave at night when I had business during the day about 10 miles away in the Metarie area (Veteran's Blvd area near the mall). Houston's on Veteran's is a good restaurant, as are Cannon's and Superior Grille on St Charles in N.O. Superior has very good Mexican Food and a very lively bar area. Cannon's is a quieter, darker place with a more "upscale" feel. Great burgers, good steaks, and I think Cajun Food was also on the menu.

I'm a South LA native myself (closer to Texas), so I'm usually not as eager to sample the cajun foods as out-of-state folks or the yankees from Shreveport, Arkansas, etc.

MAN IM FROM MISSISSIPPI WE GO ALL THE TIME, I WOULD HIT UP NEW ORLEANS, BOURBON STREET ONE NIGHT THERE IS PROB 60 BARS ON ONE STREET, THERE IS PLACE CALLED GARDEN DISTRICT THE BARS ARE METRO AND ALSO REPUBLIC ARE REAL NICE.
