Oh yes it's coming! The remake of the 1970's classic is set for a July 2005 release. Tim Burton is doing the film with his buddy Johnny Depp. Check out the link to the movie poster--it's pretty cool. Good Day!

I am so sick of these remakes. So many movies have been made that people can't think up of original ideas for a script, so they remake the classics. Very few remakes can even come close to the level of the originals. The only remakes I can think of off the top of my head that were any good were Thomas Crown Affair and Ocean's Eleven. I'm sure they'll do spectacular things with special FX, but to recapture that magic that existed in the first Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be very difficult.

I can't see Johnny Depp playing a role mastered by Gene Wilder, who actually happens to be funny...ugh, a childhood classic ruined

I hated that fucking movie because that, along with Anne of Green Gables, would come out every rainy weekend when I was stuck inside with my sister as a kid.

BUT it is a one of a kind, you can't remake that. All the special effects in the world won't help a kid enjoy it any more or use their imagination. And i hope Johnny Depp is gonna have a shot at singing some of those Wilder songs.

I think Marilyn Manson as Wonka would be a little too creepy. Depp plays the creepy part but Manson is just plain out there

Next thing you know there going to remake the Wizard of Oz. Know that would really suck to see a remake of that.
One things for sure is the could remake the WIZ and use the same characters and know one would know that they were the same. It would be kind of different. I don't think Jackson could handle it though. They'd have to put more little boys in the flick.
Ocean's Twelve comes out pretty soon!
I think the new Walking Tall movie was better than the ones before it, although it wasn't a classic or anything.

Oompa Loompa

Well, now.

I haven't seen Willie Wonka since the last time I got all smoked up in college....after seeing that scene where they go through the tunnel, get suds shot at them, then wrung dry that was enough for me. Hell, it's weird watching it stone cold.

In an attempt to make everything better it usually gets messed up; I'm sure this remake will reinforce that idea
