ok bro's here's the story! i went to the vet yesterday to take my pitbull puppy to the vet to get his shots, then i went to the gym to blast legs, well i really blasted legs yesterday and basically thats all i know, after my workout i told my workout partners that i was in a fog and couldn't think, i drank a bigtime shake (don't know why) and drank the shake that i bought with me, i guess i just didn't feel good or shit i don't know why i drank both, but basically i don't remember shit, i even drove home and called my wife on the way home and told her that i felt bad and couldn't remember nothing, well fast forward to about 1:00am in the morning and my wifes friend and her are asking me to go to the hospital and my mother in law called my and told me to go cause i couldn't remember shit and kept asking the same questions over and over again. i can remember from that time on but anything before that i can't recall. i feel fine today and im starting to remember part of the workout, i remember going into the basketball court and doing walking lunges and making one of my workout partners quit, and i remember him coming back but thats about it, I can remember my legs being sore last night and starting to cramp and my wife gave me a tiny glass of salt water to help with the cramps, i even called a guy at work at about 1:30 in the morning to make sure i didn't have to be at work in the morning..LOL shit bro's WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ME. my wife is mad at me cause i wouldn't go to the hospital and kept saying to her give me some time, she was really worried cause i hadn't eaten nothing since coming home from the gym and she KNOW'S that aint right with me! I ended up going to bed at about 2:30 am and slept like a freaking baby, one of the best nights sleep ive gotten in a long time, my wife pretty much stayed up all damn night cause she was scared i wasn't going to get up, she just even woke me up a couple of times to make sure i was alright, and i went directly back to sleep afterwards, today i feel fine i even had sex today and felt good, my legs are SOOOOOO SORE! well bro's what the hell happended to me????

Sounds like you may have had a mild stroke. It's not something to fuck with. I think you should tell your doctor what happened and get checked out.

slin??

im sure you probably thought about that though.

be careful bro.

naw ive been kinda dieting lately, and i have dropped carbs a little and had a high carb day with slin on thursday but back to low carb on friday with no slin

what is your name??

how many fingers am i holding up??

no seriously......sounds like exactly what diabetics go through.

you should go see the doc.

Sounds like a blood sugar issue to me, but of course I am no doctor. A mild stroke would be doubtful unless you have some blood pressure issues or are older, but is not out of the question. From what it sounds like with a hard leg training day, low carb diet with the addition of insulin, which in my opinion is extremely dangerous to play with that you went into a hypoglycemic state. Here are some symptoms see if this lines up with what you felt. From what you described it appears so.

Low Blood Sugar Symptoms
Because epinephrine, one of the hormones that is activated by low blood sugar, comes from the central nervous system, the majority of early symptoms of low blood sugar are related to the nervous system.

Early symptoms of hypoglycemia:

Trembling
Clamminess
Palpitations
Anxiety
Sweating
Hunger

Advanced symptoms:

Difficulty in thinking
Loss of memory
Confusion
Headache
Seizures
Coma
Possible death
Loss of vision

Symptoms for a stroke which I don't think you had from the sound of it.

difficulty speaking
dizziness
headache
hearing difficulty
paralysis
vision problems
weakness.

This was the first thing that came to my mind...that or hypoglycemia.

I was gonna ask about slin as well, but I figured a guy as experienced as B-boy would know that, or have thought about it b4 ever posting.

Not these necessarily... I had a business associate who was out with a family member and suddenly he became confused and disoriented, asking the same questions over and over, etc. Those were his only symptoms. Turned out he had a mild stroke. I think its better safe than sorry, he should have it checked out to make sure.

truthfully

it could be a lot of stuff...
stroke is one...
blood sugar is another....
possible brain lesion is another....

enough said. Get to the doctor, tell him what's going on and if ANYTHING strange is happening with you, record it and tell him about it. It may be nothing and it may be something, better safe than sorry, even if it costs a little money.
Good luck brother

YEA bro thats pretty much how it happened just became confused and my wife and friends said i kept asking the same questions over and over and over and over and over.... you get the idea, im making a doctors appointment monday! i have done nothing but sleep today, eat, sleep, eat, sleep!!!!

Good plan, man. I'm glad you're going to the doctor. No need to risk something like that. Hopefully it was nothing big, but it's good to be sure.

Sounds like classic case of hypoglycemia, I see it every day (Paramedic on a busy FD)...

even so, your sugar shouldn't drop so low unless you were messing with slin, or you have an undiagnosed case of diabetes

you say you drank 2 shakes...were they full of high glycemic carbs?? or mostly protien?? If your sugar was really low it could take a significant amount of carbs to bring it back to normal levels.

in any event you need to see a doc...good luck

BTW..highly doubt you had a TIA (or mini stroke as they call them )...they really don't manifest themselves that way

Sorry bro rereading some of the replys I see you use slin on your high days..sometimes slin use in a non diabetic seems to play a bit of havok with insulin regulation in my experience, i tend to go a tad hypo sometimes on my days off...really don't know the physiological reasons behind it...maybe one of the experts

thanks Godless and everyone else that posted! i don't think i went hypo cause i know what that feels like and i never got that kind of feeling, at least i don't think i did, ha i can't remember though??? anyway its 3:05 in the morning here and i just got back from the emergency room (my wife made me go cause she didn't want to spend another sleepless night worrying about me) my blood work and catscan came back fine, i have to make an appointment with a neurologist monday to be sure, the doctor said my symptoms are those of people that have also had mild epiliptic seizsures, he said it could be a number of things, he said my liver enzymes were a little elevated (due to my heavy lifting) and my renal functions were a little off but other than that he couldn't realy find anything wrong. so im going to a neurologist early this week to get checked out.

Just curious, did you mention your insulin use to the ER Doc??

I'm not talking about mild hypoglycemia, where you get sweaty and feel tingly(blood sugar may be slightly below 60..normal is 80-120), i'm talking about serious, coma inducing hypoglycemia, that may have hit so fast you didn't notice the mild symptoms (maybe a blood sugar in the 30's or lower)... people function differently at different levels..I've seen people completely unresponsive in the 50's and people confused driving a car in their 20's

Yes, people become very confused and have trouble speaking after seizures, problem is from the way you described it people were around you all the time prior..no one saw you seize...people would notice trust me(even in mild ones)...also after the seizure...the post-ictal state, it generally lasts 3-7 minutes unless you seize again...sounds like you were confused for along time after

always look for the most obvious cause, it's usually the correct one

as always..good luck

I have to agree with godless. It does sound like a bad attack of hypoglycemia, there is a big difference between a mild hypoglycemic attack and a bad one. There is a possibility that it could be something else still, but from your description combined with the insulin use I would highly doubt it. I would make 100% sure to let your doc know about the insulin use. I am sure you may have come out of the ER with a different diagnosis if you had mentioned this. Insulin is very dangerous and not something to be toyed with at all. I personally don't think it should be used by the recreational bodybuilder. The risk vs the benefit just does not add up in my book. That's just my 2 cents though and to each his own.

i kinda ruled out the insulin cause i am only using it 1 time per week and thats on thursdays (a very high carb day) and all this happened the following day (friday). hell maybe i did go hypo and didn't really realize it cause of the brutal workout! and damn as much sugar as i had post workout, i really had a lot! i drank a bigtime shake ( a shitload of cals and sugar) then turned around and drank my shake that i brought with me! but i don't know if i did that cause i was feeling hypo REAL bad, or if i just couldn't remember drinking the bigtime shake and then drank my shake, i just can't remember. very frustrating to say the least. anyway i am getting fully checked out this week!
