Yoga kicked my ass!!

If you havent tried Yoga yet????

Listen to this....I went to a yoga class this evening...a class I've been saying I will start for about a year now...I always think about going, but never did..well today, I went.....first the instructor was a nice calm heavy lady seemed really sweet, spoke very softly... I'm thinking , great! this class may put me sleep, a few soft stretches and relaxing breaths is all I need......

well, it wasnt long before I thought what the hell, this is NOT a beginners class..it was not as easy as some may think...it is a really good work out.


I'm not kidding, it kicked my ass!!! I was new to the class and well, all the yoga ladies knew all he moves and they even had their own language...like namaste, and other words I didnt know:confused:, but I followed along...

the class was packed....with lots ladies...these ladies were doing all the moves.... they had their matching yoga outfits to their matching yoga mats, lol...that was cute:).....they were holding their poses, and stretches, a few showing off:)... I was not about to loose my balance, no way:D..I held my own, and some my poses were better than some of them:)....but I have to admit it was great workout and the end was quite relaxing..I will take those classes now at least once a week, as I heard they get better and easier..

you all should try a class......now a hot bath advil, and I should sleep well tonight.

I have been thinking of this. Its included in my membership at Golds but I always make an excuse not to go.
 
i go 1-2 times per week and the flexibility definitely helps increase strength

you should stop making excuses, believe, I almost didnt go..again..but Im really glad I did, and I will go back..you will become more flexible which should prevent some injuries...I think..it makes sense to me.

the place i go has 2 different instructors each with their own sort of twist i guess u could say. one is a PT and her classes are very casual just focusing on stretching and feeling good, while the other is a little more into the spiritual aspect. the spiritual one starts the class of with what she calls an "ohmm" its like a deep humming that is supposed to come from your stomach. im not there for that stuff just like the stretching so i don't hum. has anyone else seen this?? i try to keep a straight face but sometimes i start laughing quietly

oh, yea..she did that,. and the whole class was doing it....I just looked around but then tried it, and then quickly stopped it:) I wasnt feeling it yet..too soon, lol.

usually im the only guy or maybe one of two, so if i start humming they are definitely know it was me lol
 
im sure it would benefit me, but im betting that id be the buzz of the gym, i could just hear the banter, man did u see that 6'7 330lb guy trying to get into those stretches lol

Good girl .....now you have to bring Tony for me ......the being in uncomfortable positions and maintaining the breathing as well as a clear mind is an excellant dissapline .....it will serve you well my friend......good work......remember, the sum of the parts ....lol
 
I started some yoga as a part of the P-90x routine. I do not do it religously, but it is an absolute "heiney Kicker" of a workout for me. I was shocked at both the calm intensity of yoga. Girly man stuff this is not.

That's great Marilyn. Now get Tony in that class.
Laugh at me if you must, but I really dig yoga class hahaha. Seriously though, Marla and I go to a bikram studio and it is truly entertaining. You've got your yoga-snobs that think they walk on water. You also have several yoga-=girls that are there for the fashion-show with their little yoga outfits and matching mats. And interestingly there are always a few older gentlemen who I’d guess suffered a coronary event 6 months earlier and are in process of changing their lives. Some of the hardcore types live the “yoga lifestyle” much like some of us here live the bodybuilding lifestyle. They do class everyday sometime twice.:eek:

Now what Marilyn was saying about yoga kicking some ass is an understatement. Bikram is very challenging. The class consist of something like 26 postures executed in sequence lasting about 11/2 hours, in a 105 degree room :mad:
The first classes I attended wiped me out for the whole day. I brought a liter of water, drank it all and left the room 9 pounds lighter then when I entered. They say it’s a shower from the inside –out.

Now that I have adjusted to it I find the class to be cleansing, renewing and enlightening. I know Marla feels the same way and here is how I know.
We have to drive about 45 minutes to get to the studio. The class lasts an hour and a half. So the whole process is a 3 hour commitment for us. When we are preparing to go we are rushing around at a 100mph. In the car we are busy talking about work or the coming events chat chat chat. We run in find our spot and wait for class to begin. OK?
So when we leave we are happy, but we might drive the whole way home and only say a few words to each other.
Its quiet in the car and quiet in my head. PEACE AND TRANQUILITY
There is no effort required to quiet my inner voice. The peace is there. it is tangible. If peace and piece-of-mind is difficult to find in your life. Try yoga
 
10 bucks says in 2 weeks or less you too will have matching outfits and yoga mat :p

Glad you enjoyed it.. There have been many things with life in general ive put off and put off and whn i finally did it, i thought to myself, what the hell was a waiting for??

I personally really need to work on my flexability.. but a yoga class seems a bit advanced.. maybe one day? ;)

i tried it in college as a freshmen just because of the girls mainly. i was all manly and thought it was gunna be easy as cake. heck, that yoga had me coming back for more, but you gotta make friends with a single cute girl so u can flirt the whole time with those faces each other makes, lol!
 
Remember when doing Yoga you want to use either an AI or a SERM to keep E2 in check.

hey, how about a PM Yoga team??? we'll have our own outfits and mats, lol....shirts that say "real bodybuilders Yoga", or "big guys do yoga", then have a pic of a big guy doing one of the poses:D
