At Bio's suggestion, I am posting this in the member's photos section as well, so please pardon the double post:

Hi all,

Looking for critique and advice for what to work on following my showing last weekend at the NPC Excalibur. I weighed in at 200.4 on Friday night but not sure what I actually weighed onstage.

Right now, my intentions are to spend the next several months on HRT, training hard and eating clean focusing on bringing up my back and chest then starting prep for the LA championships in July. Depending on how I do there, I would consider doing Nationals and/or North Americans.

Also, I'm 5'7.5", 28 years old.

I think just size overall. Your legs are pretty big, but your upper body is a little out of proportion. Arms and chest look good but if you put some chest thickness on and some real tricep growth that would be a nasty combo.

Lots of detail in your back but your lats are holding you back. Lats are imo def your weakest part. Somewhat genetic though right... I also have higher lat insertions...

Nice quads brother! I agree with tri-terror about your lats and chest thickness. Also, if you could come in better conditioned next time you would have an overall win for sure.

Thank you to all for the kind words and advice for moving forward!

Strange to say, but the last show that I did was the LA back in July 2008! I had prepped for the San Jose back in 2013 but had to pull out of the show at just 11 days out (it was that or lose my job...coach I was working with severely overdieted me). After that last experience, I had more or less decided never to compete again and just continue to live the lifestyle, but I found a coach who really knows my body and who I trust-so here I am.

My goals are to add significant size to my back (lats / lower lats especially), chest (overall but especially upper). For the whole last year, I have only trained quads once a month as I seek to bring my upper body into proportion. I intend to continue with this strategy in addition to learning how to train more like a "bodybuilder" focusing less on weight than on applying tension to the target muscle.

I was very pleased with my condition but agree that I need to be a few pounds tighter to be truly competitive at the national level, in addition to adding mass to my upper body.

Again, thank you to everyone for your support. I'm pretty fired up for this offseason and next competition prep!

Your a smart dude, and way better physique than mine. But I would caution against trying to add "upper" chest or "lower" back.

Your chest and lats either contract or they dont... so you need to do like Dante has been preaching for years, and find exercises that work for you, get weird with it if you have to.

So doing more incline chest work for example is not really gonna help you. Find what exercises give you the best overall contraction/feel the best and grind the shit out of those over the next 6 months or year. Get stupid strong on those exercises and beat that log book.

You will grow thise muscles as much as you can and that will fill out your weak points as much as your unique structure allows.
