A critique for a friend especialy from Phil

Hi guys, I have a friend that I train with and also compete with hes also a big big fan of Phil Hernon, Im suprised that people know of you out in Turkey phil:) only joking. Anyway hes 165Ibs and 180 in height and hes the owner of my gym that I work out at and would like to know what you yanky boys think and also give him some tips.He would also like to know if there are any dvds of Phil. Thanks

Thanks Phil, that defenetley made his day hearing that from a legend. I think he wants to hire you as a coach or something I will pm you soon about that, however he dont speak English so I would have to step in and translate.

Anybody else know where to get Dvd's of Phil in competion or training?

Any views from other guys in the board about my buddy would be great as well.

Hey wolf, I know I'm not Phil, wouldn't mind his physique though, If I may give a totally unbiased opinion. He looks great, The one fault I wish to point out is legs. But from the other two they are in the same boat. But tell your friend to get stuck into the leg training, he has the good as in separation but needs some size. Also his upper body will benefit even further from some serious leg training. But really he look good! He has a nice balance happening and has huge potential for gains. Good deep squats and heavy proper form deadlifts. He seems to have the rest going on. Hope you don't mind the feedback. Train hard bro you have some growing to do!!

You saying that to me or my mate:D Thanks Oldfella you always have got somthing good to say and you say the truth and say it as it is. Ive been trying to get this guy to do squats with me, thats the one thing he hates.

We gota try harder:)

The last line was for you wolf. But you can pass that on to your buddy. As for squats, I don't particularly like them myself but they produce good results overall. They hurt, they're hard, they make you sore........but they make you grow. We all had to start somewhere. So what I do is this.......On exercises I don't like doing I go hard at em and get pissed off, this just drives me a bit harder to do them. I also think of my fellow competitors.......are they squatting........do I want ot look bigger and better than they do..........if they're squatting then I'm gonna squat my ass off........If they are'nt then this is my edge and advantage over them. When it's comp time all bets are off.......I do what it takes to go out and be in the best condition I can, if it's good enough I'll win.....if it's not then I'll be the bride's maid and i know what I need to do next time. That is how I do squats!!
 
hey man your budy looks really good and his only 165lb WOW.just one advise for him tell him to stay away from that dude with the pink speedo in the center of the pic:eek:
 
I think your buddy has a great "look"! I agree though he needs to add some size to his legs...but compared to the other two (the guy in the pink/red doesn't even look like he trains legs at all) he blows them away.

I think he just needs to add some quality size to the legs..which will help with the upper body and I see him winning some shows in the future.

But that's just my 2 ml worth on the subject take it for what its worth.

Yeah but the guy on the right beat him, the judges out here in this Turkish controlled banana republic of north cyprus have nothing to do with bodybuilding. I also lost out to a guy that just looked like a construction worker on diuretics on the same day.

Anyway here is another picture of him 6 months ago competing at 156Ibs, he lost again this time to the guy on the left. The guy on the left was holding to much water and was 11Ibs heavier than him.

You guys have defenetly put a smile on his face and have motivated him even more.

wow I don't know how he lost to that guy twice? He looks better than me at 165 than I ever have!
 
Well the guy in the first picture was terrible, he had a wide waist and no symetry, I dont know how he lost that one but the guy in this picture was better but he was holding too much water. The problem is my friend is from the mainland and the competion was on the Island. The Islanders only want to look out for there own boys but there is no justice.

I think my friend looked better at 165 than 156. When he was 156 he dieted too hard and lost some size but he is growing nicely now.
 
Here is another picture of him on a bulk up off season, this time at 176. He has defenetly been enjoying all the feedback from you guys and he would like to thank everyone for the constructive criticism and compliments.

what are they putting in the water in turkey anyway?

Lol! That dude is a friend as well, but he didnt have any posing trunks, he didnt even train for a show but the guys begged him to compete because there was a low turn out and sombody gave him pink trunks lol! It took balls to go to a competition in such short notice and it took even bigger balls to wear those pink trunks, lol! It still gives me the giggles.

One thing he has learned though is to train legs.:)
 
Ok just one more thing, did he deserve to lose in the first picture I showed you? The second pic might be debatable to some but I had him well ahead on points. The second pic, like I said he was only 156Ibs and then he bulked up and still kept most of his condition at 165Ibs. Its just crazy!

Yeah thats Hamdullah Aykutlu, I think they put Tiromel in there water in Turkey and plenty of it;)

My friends also one of those lucky s.o.b's he gets ready for contest without any cardio despite the fact that he has a load of high quality Cybex treadmills at the gym he owns. Its ok for some I guess:mad:
 
Wolf as I see it your friend should have won in the first pic, the second pic .....well the other guy had a better overall package, not better conditioning but he was bigger and in good condition, note the legs. You friend needs to train them very hard. He will put on quality size and thickness eveywhere if he does this. He has the potential to get some real size going, but it will not happen without legs.
 
how tall is your friend wolf?

he looks very impressive....just get those legs up! :p
 
Hes 5ft 10 180cm. Hes quite tall for his weight class. If however he gains size on his legs Im sure he could even be competing in the 198IBs + class (90KG's+).
