STAND IN A MIRROR AND FLEX YOUR ABS. HOW FAR DO YOU BEND OVER? DO YOU BEND OVER AT ALL OR JUST BRING YOUR SHOULDERS DOWNWARD TOWARDS YOUR HIPS? LAY ON THE FLOOR, PRETEND THERE IS A MIRROR ON THE CEILING(KAISER, YOU MAY ACTUALLY HAVE A MIRROR ON YOUR CEILING) AND FLEX YOUR ABS. THERE, THAT IS AB TRAINING. KEEP HANDS ON EARS AND ELBOWS TOWARDS THE FLOOR TO CREATE MORE RESISTANCE IF NEEDED.

Ok back to the ABS. If you do all AB exercises while maintaining a pelvic tilt they will be in constant tension. If some of youdon't know what they are they are usde for core training. If your laying on your back you flex your ABS to get rid of that space between the floor and your back. You maintainthat position then do your crunches etc. Actually every AB exercise you should be tensing your ABS into a pelvic tilt and holding that position and then doing your movement.

I still like doing my ABS on the exercise ball to get that extra stretch by leaning back then crunching foward that you can't get on most AB exercises. I still have'nt managed to do reverse crunches on that ball.

Great explainations guys! All to often i see peolpe basically just rocking or just working their hipflexors and then they wonder why they can't get their abs how they want them.
 
YES IT DOES............. I ACTUALLY RAISE MY HIPS SLIGHLTY WHILE CRUNCHING DOWN.

I find the pelvic tilt in the "captains chair" ab thingie in the gym really works mine well when doing 'knee ups"

but im kinda lucky to have visible abs above 10%

Phil can this position be maintained if say you were doing cable rope crunches on your knees? I try to keep that exact position you just described while doing that excersise for my abs.

Sorry if I didn't explain that excersise correctly to you.....I seldom remember names for movements I just do them.......lol..

I do them just as Phil described, and I try to imagine that I am wrapping my torso around a big log. Kind of a curved motion, but not too much range of movement.
 
I heard Phil loves wrapping his torso around a BIG log too. :D

Thanks for answering as I was checking to make sure I was doing it right as I incorporate these into my DC ab training.......One rest pause set of these and I thats it for ab training

Just like Arnold in the opening training scenes in PumpingIron. Great exercise, I've been doing it for years.

OHHHH this is some funny shit! I love a good laugh in the morning. On a serious note The classic ab pose. As Phil said, do this on the floor, off of ball or with a rope in your hands from a cable machine. Or A BIG F"ING LOG if you prefer........What ever blows your skirt up!!:D
 
Love those cable crunches. Exhale hard, roll your upper torso as tightly down and in (if that makes sense) as possible. The contraction is unreal. The leaner I am the harder the contraction. My abs are always sore after sex. My GF's calves are always sore. She has really great calves.
