Acne Scar Treatments?

i ws wondering if anything is worth the money for treating acne scars? what would be the best option guys? laser treatment?

where are the scars on your face or back? cocoa butter with vitamin E is good for scars. just apply it daily and massage the scar tissue.

i have a ton on my back and shoulders, but now i just started getting some on my face. not terrible, but noticeable. thing is, ive never had bad acne on my face. i'm really pissed about this, all of a sudden i have some scars on my face....i went to the derm like 2 weeks ago, and he wanted me on solodyn so ive been on that for 2 weeks. but within those 2 weeks i developed these minor scars. he recommended i get some laser treatment on my shoulders/back but im just wondering how effective it is and if its worth the money man

i think the answer to your question is really how much does it bother you. if you don't mind them then why go through an unnecessary procedure. i would try the cocoa butter for a few months see if it does anything, you might be surprised.

yeah it is really bothering me bro. its really getting to me and its kinda depressing to be honest. i have a dermo appt on april 27th and cannot get an appt earlier. i guess ill have to try the cocoa butter...do u think the laser treatment is the most effective though?

honestly im not familiar with the laser treatment. im basing my advice on several surgeries i have had which left me with large thick scars. i worked them with cocoa butter several times a day for months and now they feel like completely normal skin and you can barely see any discoloration.

oh shit really? i didnt think it was that good for scars. so u used it a few times per day for how many months bro?

about 3 times a day for 3 or 4 months u should see good results. however u are not just applying it, the trick is to massage the scar tissue with a good amount of pressure so that it breaks up and flattens out

I have the same thing. Alittle on my face but bad on my back/shoulders/chest, I cant even take my shirt off. Be sure to update after you go to the derm because I was thinking about going to see one and see what they say.

same bro, youre not alone. and trust me, i guarantee mine is worse than yours. as soon as my doc saw me with my shirt off, he immediately offered me laser treatment. wouldnt give me accutane though. wish i had caught it early... wish gear never caused acne in anyone! lol. i also have it on my back, shoulders and chest BUT also on my upper arms, right at the bottom of my delts

i'll google it right now, but does it work for severe scarring? or should i do the laser for it?

And yours might be worse but it can't be much worse because mine is horrible I have marks all over my back/shoulders/chest and some on my arms. I am gonna go tanning with a tanktop on this week to see how it effects the lighter marks I have on my arms/shoulders. I don't want to tan my whole back yet because I heard it can make them darker and stay longer.

I had acne scars "keloids" from when i broke out in acne as a teenager (now 20) i was seeing doctor for laser treatment and although the scar is still there it is now much redder and barely visible to see, i couldnt help you on how much it would cost as im in the UK so its free out here. btw personally i dont think any creams will help, i think laser treatment is the best choice, took me about 6 visits to get the end result.

It depends whether you are talking discoloration or scarring.

With discoloration/redness exfoliation seems to speed fading the redness. A series of peels over the winter faded mine by about half. Tanning is hiding them for the interim.

Real scarring and keloid scarring however requires lasering or needling and a dermatologist.

You could try some micro-dermabrasion,,laser,,,or a few TCA peels over several months.

I started researching it more and decided I am going to try some home chemical peels with glycolic35%,BHA+,hq+, and salicylic 20%.

If they dont work then I am gonna have to go to a professional and try there peels or laser.
