Advice for my wife...

Hey everyone. I come to you with an open mind and hope that you can help my wife out.

Her Stats:
Age: 30
BF: 20%
Height 5"1
Weight: 109

Lifting seriously for 2 years.

(Personal obvservation, she is dedicated, probably 90% with her diet) High Protein, Medium Carb diet.

Two years ago she started lifting and working out seriously, I would say she started at around 135 pounds and 30+ BF%.

Anyway, she asked me about helping her out and to be honest, my knowledge is 1% of the what the board can provide, so here it goes...

She would like to lower her body fat % without sacrificing anymore muscle, she has researched CLEN and T3, but lets face it, it will eat up muscle if not taken correctly.

She is more concerned with her legs than anything, she is pretty ripped upstairs, but fights the constant battle with her thighs.

Does anyone have any advice on how she can hit that area a bit better, lose some of that BF that sits on her legs? From my understanding, you can not target weight loss.

If she did decide to go the CLEN route, does anyone have any personal expericene that they can share? Benefits and drawbacks? She is just trying to shed those extra 5-6 pounds (that seem to be isolated in her thighs)

thanks,

thanks,

It seems that she has some sort of hormonal issue going on.

There are a few routes that she can go: a Naturopath, a traditional chinese medicine doctor, a Medical doctor or a Biosignature modulation specialist.

I'd go for the Biosignature guy as he understands exercise and the BB lifestyle.
An average MD will ask her to do bloodwork and see what is going on, if everything is on the average for the exam they will not know what to do because that is the type of training that they have a ND and a TCM doctor can be a little bit ignorant about exercise and may push their own agenda but they undrestand that treatments should be individualized.
Good luck.

Women just hold fat in their lower bodies. It's just genetic. The key is going to be her diet. You didn't post much about it. Adding cardo in the morning before breakfast will help out a lot.

Taking clen or t3 will not be effective if her diet is not clean. I think at 109 pounds she probably doesn't need either one.

I can tell you from experience that when I weighed a 109 pounds my legs didn't look as good as I wanted them. This wasn't because they were too fat. It was because my quads and hams weren't very developed. I didn't have enough muscle there. You might want to take a look at her leg routine. By developing her quad & ham, it will give her more toned shape and burn off the fat. Building muscle burns fat.

I have to bump what SASS has said here. The key is in her diet. She just needs to get stubborn about things and keep at it. And yes I also agree with the "Legs not being as developed as she would like" comment. Too true!

Nothing I can add here - "all net" as they say in basketball.

Great advice and comments, Sas!

Thanks for all the good advice, it's greatly appreciated. I spoke to her and she is really going to hit the legs hard for the next 4-5 months and see what happens.

By her own admission, she slacks off on leg days and doesnt work them as hard as she could.

I told her to get back to the basics... Squats, Leg Presses, and Dead Lifts...

As for her diet, just in case you are still wondering:

This is just the example she gave me: She said she is around 2000 calories
Morning: Muscle Milk Light + Banana
Snack: Protien Bar
Lunch: PBandJ or Tuna or Turkey Sandwich
Snack: Protien Bar + Crackers + Strawberries
Snack: Handfull of peanuts
Dinner: LEAN MEAT (for example, we had Turkey/Beef Taco Pie last night)

Ok here are some suggestions for her eating.
Morning, scrambled eggs (3) or poached and some oatmeal You guys work out the quantity
Snack, drop the protein bars and go for a real protein drink
Lunch tuna and salad or tuna and some brown rice or turkey if you wish
snack, another protein drink and some strawberries
next snack handful of almonds, unsalted (better than peanuts)
Dinner, chicken breast boiled and some brocollii or green beans.

This will be much better than what you have posted here.
Use extra virgin olive oil for any and all cooking. This will help her lose the fat from her thighs and butt!

Definitely need to revamp the diet like Oldfella suggested. Those protein bars are not a good choice. They are glorified candy bars. They are ok for someone who is bulking, but not so much if you are trying to lose weight they won't help much.

I needed tons of help with my chicken legs. I'll tell you about my leg routine. She can try it if she wants too. It will just give her another option... I split my leg work out into two days. I train quads & abs on one day and ham & calves on another... a couple of days apart. She could put another body part with quads... I choose abs.

Quads:
I do three exercises; 3-4 sets with heavy weights.
Squats
Lunges
Hack Squats, leg press or extensions (sometime I pick something different to chance up my routine)

Hams & Calves
Dead lifts
Leg curls
Reverse leg curls or standing leg curls (these are two machines the gym had that were good options for a third exercise)

Standing calf raises
Seated calf raises
Seated calf extension, vertical calf press, donkey calf raise (there are a few other machines or options that you can rotate into your routine)

We have a home gym, so I'm kind of limited... so if I'm only doing two exercises, I'll do 4 sets for each exercise.

thanks for all the help...

She is going to take your advice and break legs days up into two day... Quads/Abs... Hams/Calves... this way, she get a more intense workout and hit them hard.

Also, the protien bars are gone...replaced with Protien shakes, oatmeal or Eggs in the morning.

She is pretty pumped... she has done a great job of changing her physique and I hope this helps take her to another level...
