ok so lately ive been looking into why natural and organic foods are best for us. from a health standpiont,....they dont have any chemicals and are easy on the body to process. now from a bbing standpoint, because its so much better and we are healthier, and our bodies work as a better machine, does using natural foods make it easier to predict the outcome on how they effect the way one looks? like oatmeal as opposed to pasta, or lean ground meat grass fed as opposed to mcdonalds. seems like its just better all the way around for us.
discuss????

YEA BUDDY

It most certainly is " better for us" ... BUT it is so much more expensive to buy that stuff and the fact that we need to eat so much more than the average joe makes it cost prohibitive for me anyway, I used to manage a Health food store years ago and learned a lot from working in that business, I used to eat very healthy and a lot of organic food but just kinda lost interest because of the cost of it all, still take my vitamins and enzymes everyday though.

It doesn't have to be expensive. When I went on my vegetarian kick, I spent less, including the extra protein powder I was using, than when I was eating meat. If you eat a lot of whole grains and legumes, buy in bulk, get seasonal vegetables and fruits from farmers markets, etc - it actually cost quite a bit less. I have to admit I felt better too. It's not for everyone and I am back to eating meat. But I only eat a meat a couple times a week. My biggest monthly expense now is LBAs.

McDonald's baked apple pie is OBVIOUSLY the world's greatest anabolic ;)

lucian, you are very brazen for questioning this empirically proven logic.

obviously mcdonalds sucks for you but is it easier to predict gastroc emptying time of both organic and non organic foods? does junk have a place for trying to slow down peoples metabolisms which normaly burn up calories too fast? these are the questions. i was looking for how they work better...not really if they work better. but thanks for the comment.

bottom line....how do these foods work better, and what combos work best. ezikiel bread is awesome. but are regular bananas any different than organic? do they have different effects on the body?

i get a newsletter by dr. joseph mercola. he has posted several studies which infer that processed fast food increases inflamation and homocystein levels. they actually did one study where blood samples were taken on an hourly basis.

i am always a little leary of these studies though, because mercola is trying to sell his organic products.

processed dairy is clearly lacking in certain important bacteria though. i find it really funny that the companies that have spent alot of money sterilizing the yogurt are now are adding some of the stuff back in, calling it "probiotic," and charging more.

in general, the focus of green foods is moving towards minimizing the ecological footprint of production. there is now a strong international initiative to reduce carbon dioxide levels. we are going to see a marketing switch which tries to appeal to our sense of global health, not just individual health.

the main difference will be in

I don't know if this may answer your question, but my first job was as a manager for a banana plantation with DOLE. You wouldn't believe the amount of chemicals that are used on them: from the irrigation of water, nutrients and anti-fungals, to airplane pesticides, hand mineralization of the soil, and then they are cut green and shipped at 2degreesC until the place of destination where they use another chemical to speed the ripening.

We never touched the "shipping product", but at each home there were natural ones, smaller and much easier to eat. However I know how cost affects the decision-making process.

actualy it does explain part of my question. now, do the "chem" bananas work differently in digestion than organic? and how do the chemicals used in the "chem"bananas effect the body. is it a kinda poisoning effect over time?

If you talk to a local farmer they will tell you that the chemicals they use are minimal. Which they maybe, they'll even tell you there so minimal that you can eat straight from the field and not get sick. This is true as I've done it, since I live in the sticks. But just cause you don't get "sick" or have an adverse affect on the body doesn't mean it doesn't do something to ya. I've gotten more into this "organic" way of thinking. Now I wash my food with grapefruit extract and prepare everything as much as possible without cooking. You can tell a difference. Remember what goes in us is what fuels us as well. Now reason to second guess it!!
