Another thread about clothes...Tailored Athlete t-shirts

Looking for feedback on Tailored Athlete t-shirts. The site looks like they have decent stuff that will stretch and fit an athletic build. Anyone have experience with these guys? How is the sizing? The models they use look to be smaller guys with decent size arms. I'm a little bigger than that...6'1 250ish. I carry a lot in my traps/chest/shoulders/arms. I'm about a 33-34" waist. I'm looking at t-shirts and dress shirts.

Thanks in advance

I usually wear a XXL. I have two or three of their short sleeve button ups that are far too small. I sized up in their long sleeve and it fit better. I think they have a decent return policy.

I’m 6’1 240

xxl in their t-shirts, correct? XXXL in their long sleeve?

Xxl in short sleeve button up- was too tight for my liking. Xxxl long sleeve button up fit comfortable.

Id probably buy the t-shirts from them. If you want a nice dress shirt, have a tailor custom make you one. It’s well worth the price. A good tailor will come to your house and measure you, then come back and try it on and can make further adjustments as needed. I have pants that are made of a slightly stretchy fabric and pockets that are angled to when when you sit down the lay flat and don’t open.

Just got some stuff from them this week. The quality is great, but they run very small. Size up 2-3 sizes.

I wear the XXXL sizes for both Tailored Athlete and Father Sons - and they're still a bit tight. I'm 5'10" and 225. Also - not all the shirts fit the same way.

Boss T’s are stretchy as fook. I’m 120kg at 5’9 and they fit perfectly. Those ‘athlete’ t’s look a bit shit if you’re wearing them with some designers jeans and trainers/shoes imo.

They're good if you manage to get the right size. The problem is their sizes aren't the same for all their shirts. An XL in black is a different size than an XL in blue, so it's really a guessing game

If you really want the perfect shirt use the custom tailored option. Just cannot beat the fit. Especially if you’re over 6’. Been using www.tailorstore.com without any issues. Now they over tshirts, chinos, jeans etc. It’s a bit more money, but totally worth it.

For sure choose a custom shirt measured to you.
Spend some time choosing the material quality.

The shirt tailor I use has hundreds of fabric examples to see and feel. My preference is Egyptian cotton , it holds it shape well over cheaper fabrics.

Ask to see some shirt examples. You want to see stitching very close together per inch, no noticeable gaps to your eye.

Ask about the quality of thread used to stitch your shirt. You don't want cheap cotton thread that doesn't last.
Thread quality does make a difference.

Having your initials monogrammed into the cuff is a nice touch.

Also think about button quality. Cheap plastic buttons look cheap and break.

Lastly , take care of this investment. Always wear an undershirt to prevent skin oils from ruining your investment.

Learn to fold your shirt as it came new and store in a clean drawer.
I don't hang mine in a closet where dust can collect .

You will look like a million bucks wearing a quality fabric custom shirt made fitted to you!

I haven't used that company but I did try to get a custom tailored shirt for a wedding from J Hilburn and here's a huge word of warning.

J Hilburn used to measure by hand but they now have a machine you stand in that measures you. At the time I was in the 290s and I knew it was going to come out totally wrong. The guy who helped me knew it was for a wedding and knew I need it a week in advance to make alterations.

I asked him to remeasure everything by hand but he only checked two measurements because he was confident it was correct.

The shirt came in. I went to try it on and it was skintight on my right arm. Given my arms are my worst body part I knew this was a very bad sign. I tried to continue putting it on but couldn't get it halfway around my back. Needless to say I tore the guy to pieces in front of other customers since I told him it all needed to be hand measured and he didn't do it.

If you're a legit superheavyweight or have crazy proportions absolutely do not trust a machine scan or a website that asks for your measurements. You need it all measured by hand or whatever you're purchasing won't fit.

Appreciate all the input. I'm going to Mexico next month and wanted to grab some new t-shirts instead of packing old gym rags...lol.
There's a ton of "custom t-shirts for athletes" businesses popping up on social media lately it's hard to tell which ones are legit. I'll probably just go buy a pack of Hanes t-shirts at Macys and call it good. Don't plan on wearing a shirt much anyway except to dinner.

At 6'1" and 250lbs. you can probably be fine with the online sites that ask for measurements. When I was in the 290s trying to get one my ex looked at a few websites and after inputting my measurements they said they couldn't fit me!

I am not large at all anymore. I hover around 205-215(all abs to have 4 pack). Their XXL is so small it's uncomfortable.

State and Liberty is awesome if you have a local store that can do the measurements.

@danieltx, I’ve used tailor store and also MTailor. MTailor is an app. For both of these sites they have you take a picture of yourself either in your underwear or compression type wear. I just had my undies on…

They’ll send you a test fit with the measurements they take from the picture. It’s like a cheap linen type fabric. You put it on, take more pics and email the pics back. They’ll make more alterations and usually send back your tailored new shirt.

If that shirt still doesn’t fit they’ll tell you to either trash the shirt or donate it and make a new one till it’s correct. I’ve gotten suits, and button downs from them.

*Note, do not wait until the last minute for these options. This is a 2-3 week process. Once they have your measurements you’re good unless you seriously change your body composition.

For reference I’m 6’2” 255lb at this moment in time… They fit me perfect!

Hope you got that shirt for free @danieltx, and comped store credit for the extra bullshit. Mens Warehouse did me like that a long time ago… Terrible experience!!! However, they made it right after the fact. Luckily, I had a tailored option in my closet that was close enough to get me in the door.

This. If you’re somewhere with a store, utilize it. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with State and Liberty.

This I agree. I wear XL, but not all fit.
