I started mountain biking yesterday and my legs (quads) were on fire with all the lactic acid in them. After a while I could hardly bend my legs! :D

What do you guys and gals use in order to keep the lactic acid levels down in order to get through your riding??? Or guys that do legs in the gym and have a trick for this also chyme in! Thank you!

You get better at cycling, at the blunt end.

Just something that comes with practice, that or blanking out the pain.

I've bounced back and forth between weight lifting and cycling at least twice, and it's never pretty. Beta-alanine and citrulline malate can help, but no supplement comes close to what training can do.

Your body adapts pretty fast, and after a week or two that pain doesnt really come. thats how it was for me when I was cycling. I could go full out, average about 19 mph, for 50 miles and not get any pain. the pain would come the next day though :)

Hey Boom! You going Lance Armstrong on us now? :D

Man I haven't mountain biked in years! That's awesome. Great fun to. I think the boys are right. From what I remember, the pain gets a lot better..just like anything you know...your body learns to adapt. So have you found any crazy hills to go down yet? I used to love the trail riding stuff. You can really get lost in the woods. I think I still even have my bike so I'll bring it along when I come out to visit. lol. :p
Find out when the cute chicks hit the trails for me bro. ;)

check out animals site bro, there is more info there than you can shake a stick at......

What is the url for Animals board?

Its all about effeincy. The more effeicent you are the less lactic acid build you have, and the less energy you waste. If you just started cycling it will probably take 2 years to become relatively effeicent. No drug in the world is going to help you turn pedals at a more effeicent rate. Work on your dead spots.

Some test can help with recovery, and igf-1 helps too.

Thanks for all the help fellows! And also bumping for "animals" website!

lactic acid's a bitch. what it means is your pedaling at yer , or above yer VO2 max. the more you ride, the quicker you'll adapt. i'll bet if you do the same intensity ride as the last time, this time it won't hurt as bad. cycling, like running, or PT training, is really a highly adaptive form of training. lots easier to improve on those than to improve on weightlifting poundages.
what's up, bodytech?

potassium citrate works great but is nasty to drink.
I use to work with some guys and I have a mix that works well.
Also you want to slam the carbs as soon as you get off the bike. That is the best for recovery.

on a bodybuilding board, I think everyone here is a cyclist if you know what i mean ;)
