any medical people? help?

YOUR INFORMATION IS INCORRECT

@ THE ORIGINAL POSTER YOU NEED A CATSCAN NOT AN MRI.

He was originally being evaluated for a pectoral tear, so an MRI would be appropriate (T1 weighted). In terms of the edema observed, that can easily be viewed on an MRI, CT, or even a chest x-ray (assuming that there is significant edema in this case).

I hope the original poster completes this thread after his follow up visit, as I would be interested in confirmation that everything is okay, etc.

i visit my orthopedic surgeon tommorow so i guess i can get the full report.

i called the place that took the MRI and they said that this MRI could not see what is inside the lungs, becuase i was breathing, there would be white stuff in the lungs. however i called a diffferent place, and they said all MRI should be able to see any fluid inside the lung. however they said if they gave me an mri they would ask me to hold my breath during the mri at certain points. during the mri I got i never held my breath. i will try and take a a pic with my cell and post it have no clue if you guys will even be able to see it though.

Bro, an MRI to assess the integrity of your pec musculature is not going to give you any meaningful data about your lungs. You are getting all worked up over nothing. If you want an accurate assessment of your lungs you need a different type of MRI or a completely different type of scan. In other words you are wasting your time seeking answers as the MRI you had WILL NOT tell you anything whatsoever about your lungs.

here is the white stuff on the right side of the pic(which is my left lung)

It's a beginning though...

Ultimately, the MRI won't be the best diagnostic of what is going on, yes. This was found "happenstance" which you can now use to get your GP to look further into your current other symptoms you mentioned.

That pec tear (more like strain right?) may have actually been a blessing. If you hadn't of had it and not gone for the MRI you may have held off the doctor for your symptoms for an even longer period of time (thus prolonging any course of therapy and recovery if there is indeed a problem).

We had a kid in the ICU who got hit in the head with a baseball and got a CT to check for a bleed. No bleed... but a tumor the size of, ironically, a baseball. The kid had NO symptoms of a tumor before that. They were able to completely remove it and he should be fine.

If I can ask, don't post the MRI pic (especially if it's a photo of it), I think it's asking for trouble for people going back on forth on it.
EDIT- ack, you just posted it as I was typing this.

PM friends, let's not speculate on this. A Radiologist is the expert for this. Let them read it. And yes, a CT will probably be warranted.

See your GP, perhaps then get a CT, and then onto a specialist for your symptoms.

Please keep us up to date though.

It was guys like you that made me spend an extra hour in the classroom arguing over semantics, when I could have been in the gym or spending time with my wife.

IM IN A GYM 8 HOURS A DAY TRAINING PEOPLE

and at this point here is the least of my concerns, this is all i saw as far as a pec tear, however im meeting with my ortho surgeon tommorow. as you can see on the left side there is a white indentation that goes into the pec (injury happened 10 weeks ago). the large white area is just between the muscles, however the part that goes into the pec is what concerns me.

pec....

qbkilla,

Honestly posting all of these scans is just going to continue having unqualified people making unqualified judgements. I've already read a few questionable posts and one that is outright incorrect. No medical professional would dare to make any judgement on anything you've posted. Stick with your GP and let him send you to a specialist if need be. Again PLEASE just wait to meet one on one with someone who is qualified to tell you anything about what you are showing here. All the best bro and good luck.

Thanks...

And so what ?
We can still have fun trying to figure out what it is.
Right?
It make me laugh when people answer like this

Here is another ………………

Agreed. No one should even attempt to read these scans given the resolution and the lack of a complete medical history. I do want to debunk the fallacy that you can only see pulmonary edema on an MRI when the patient is holding his breath. If the volume of fluid is substantive, you can see it regardless of whether or not the patient is in forced expiration. Take home point, regardless, is FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN and please keep us posted. Best of luck!

I can attempt to do whatever we want!
If the bro want to post this then we can reply.

Does it make a person appear to be smart when they say
“FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN”
He didn’t ask anyone to tell him what to do .
Here is his post and he only ask two simple questions.

I was wondering if anyone knew alot about MRI's?.... Im wondering will an MRI show fluid in the lungs also?

These are yes or no questions.
And if you don’t know the answers then why post ?
Huh ?

It tears me up when people answer questions what were not even asked?
The only thing I can figure it makes them appear smart.

OK It is my turn to give you a “unqualified judgment”

1) No I don’t know ALOT about an MRI .

2) Yes It can .

How do I know this you may ask ?
I called my brother who is Dr of radiology here at UF and asked him.

Come on over and I'll dig it out with my pocket knife and a pair of pliers.
You will be ok I know it.
God Bless

You sure can have fun, about as much fun as a blind man throwing darts and hoping for a bulls eye, because that's what you're essentially doing. Ahh but why should that stop you? You're having fun right? Scaring the shit out of some poor guy who just had to go through the mental trauma of tearing a pec. You're right let's lob those darts at him - fun.

Do you suffer from multiple personalities or are you just illiterate? Just curious...

Only if you believe someone giving the correct response makes them smart.

Good point, if you don't know I don't see any reason to post either. Here is another good one, if the question has already been answered (see the first reply to this thread) then why do you come in here and regurgitate what has already been said? I think it's great that you're proud of your brother, give him a hug and let him know next time you see him. Now go ask him if he would comment on someone's blurry, obfuscated scans that were posted on the internet and try and diagnose someone. I'll go ahead and answer that one for you, if he enjoys practicing as a medical doctor and thought spending a large portion of his adult life in school was fulfilling then I'm gonna go with no.

What tears me up is people who try and prove points that end up ridiculing themselves in the process.

Thanks. I guess you chipped this one in for posterity?

Well said hotrocks, well said.

Well.......

The the OP.....I hope everything turns out okay, and keep us updated.

To everyone else, well..................quit arguing like some post menopausal women. :D Cracks me up some times.

well i just got back from the ortho surgeon, and i have the report of the mri. all it talks about is the pec injury.

i called the mri place, they said that if the readiologist saw anything abnormal with anything they would put it in the report.

however i asked the ortho surgeon, he said he didnt know if something like an enlarged heart would be in the report. i told him i had a concern with my heart looking large (i measured it 4cm, the inside of the rib cage on the mri is 7cm..so its like 56%, which would be an enlarged heart, anything over 50% is enlarged). however he said you cant really diagnose an enlarged heart from this type of mr.

i am also not sure if the inside of the ribs is just 7cm, because i think it gets wider as you go down the rib cage and that is the measurment you use.

anyway i have no idea. im hoping a radiologist would have put something in there if i really had an enlarged heart but the radiologist may not know my prior medical historyand may think i already know i have an enlarged heart (if i do have one)?

im just rambling i guesss. bottom line the report came back and gave details on the pec (which was why the MRI was taken) and no one mentioned any heart or lungs. i wonder if they even looked at them?

Great, but...

Thanks for the update.

Can I still suggest the prior recommendation(s)?
- Go see your GP about your current symptoms of ankle edema, difficulty breathing, etc ASAP. You should not sit on that.

- Have your report (and image) sent to them. If they won't send the image (they most likely will) have them give you a CD of it.

Liphted

Great come back !
I like it .
