Have a friend that thinks it is great. Anyone else tried it and if so your thoughts? Thanks

Best regards,

Lycan

I haven't checked out this particular product but I think for the most part Muscletech products tend to be good quality but overpriced, I think you can probably get an equally as good product for slightly cheaper

How wrong can you be. They are garbage. They constantly have lawsuits on them for not meeting label claims.
They just sell well marketed and packaged garbage.

Have a strong cup of coffee and a banana before you train. This will give you more benefit than the fancy nano shit!!

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I thought it was probably a crock of shit, knew I could get the real dope on it here.

Best,

Lycan

Most of these NO products are just the amino acid arginine.

Now, arginine IS a precursor the cell uses to make NO, but unless there's some specific reason to make NO, the arginine will simply be used or converted in the liver in some other way.

These NO manufacturers claim things like "whole body pumps," or pumps in large muscles that last for hours due to vasodilation, etc - it's nonsense. First, NO has a half-life of seconds, so must constantly be remade. Second, IF you were actually able to vasodilate any significant number of vassels for any period of time, you would in effect set up a blood reservoir and would approximate hypovolemia where yuo get less blood returning to the heart, thus reducing cardiac output.

This would cause a chain reaction of events that would cause vasconstriction, increased heart rate, sodium retention, etc, all in an effort to increase the decreased cardiac output.

NO products are a waste of money.

Dad, does NO convert to estrogen?

:devil-s:i

Great post BTW...

Thanks, Ouch!

I do not think that NO would convert to estrogen. Estrogen, testosterone, and many steroid homones are all built from cholesterol, with its three 6-sided, and one 5-sided rings. Part of what makes these different is their reactive side groups.

NO, nitic oxide, is not made from these cholesterol skeletons, but is simply nitrogen and oxygen. Reactive, yes, but does not aromatise like testosterone.

I could be a bit off here on my biochem, but I can't see NO converting or even being built into an estrogen. Interestingly, the term "estrogen," as most use it, actually refers to a whole bunch of estrogen-like compounds - estrogen, estrone, estradoil, etc.,

yup, estradiol, and estrone, and estriol. They all come from androstenediol which comes from cholesterol. Who ever would have guessed those greasy french fries were a testosterone precursor?

NO only converts to less money in your pocket.

Not to start a war, but...

NO only converts to less money in your pocket.

I've found one NO product that does actually work pretty well for me. And two of my friends had the same experiences with the same products (we all tried the same different ones with identical results).

As a side note, I wouldn't call the results "dramatic" but instead I would say they are "noticable". Would you be better off gains-wise and financially spending your money on a bottle of test? Yes.

To address the original question in this thread: We tried (all three of us) Muscletech's NO supplements in our comparisons, they were the least effective of the different brands we tried. No noticable difference vs. baseline comparisons (workouts without any NO products).

With the fancy looking labels and "million-dollar reseach budget" I've tried several diferent Muscletech products hoping I would get a return on my investment, but it's pretty much how Big A called it, Muscletech = very well marketed, poor performing products. Sorry.

So terry, do you feel it was money well spent?

One thing to remember about ANY oral intake is that it is subject to First Pass Metabolism. Simply stated, this means that most things are completely broken down and destroyed by crossing the gut wall and hitting the liver's enzymatic processes.

This is why oral drugs are created specifically to resist hepatic breakdown, AND why tests are performed regularly on people taking oral meds to check liver function. Creating drugs to be liver-resistant creates drugs that can be hard on the liver as well.

Virtually no oral supplement survives this, and unless there is a need (i.e. deficiency), the liver basically treats these like any food.

Yes, I am oversimplifying the biochem to some degree.

For me, no...

If you are a drug tested athlete or natural competitor, yes. I was natural at the time we did our "experiment", so having found something that did actually show some results was worth spending money on.

Would it fit my needs now? No. I don't fall into that category anymore. Like I said a bottle of test is a better investment- if thats something you are comfortable with.

I'm currently off since december and looking for a good pump boost. What's the name of your NO product that DID show results? It would be good to help out all our drug tested athletes and natural competitors as well so they can spend their money effectively.
