i saw snails at wegmans, i had no idea they were eatn, i looked up there quality, it looks like the protien is very poor quality, anybody now why? anybody tell me what they taste like lol? while were on the topic of quality, as as an example pork skin lacks tyrtophan, is trytophan an important AA were its non existance will make the total protien poor, if any one AA is lacking in a protien does it just make the whole protien poor even if the other AA's were high?
 
I love snails (Escargo). I have never cooked them myself but have order them at restaurants several times. I love them. I have heard that they are great for women in preventing certain types of cancer. I am pretty sure they are a good source of protein.
 
I have eaten snails (Escargo) before on cruise ships. I thought they had a texture close to mushrooms. They weren't bad.
 
i love escargot. especially with a buttery garlic sauce (fattening, i know). i havent had them in a while..the last time i ate them i was ripping ass all night and it smelled terrible. the worst farts ever. beware :)
 
I grew up eating cooked snails of all types (I am Filipino so I ate it semi-regularly). It was usually stir fried (whole shell and all) with taro root. I am not sure of the protein quality but just like everything else I ate tons of them per sitting.

A Filipino scientist did find that snails contain a painkiller chemical in their flesh. I read this a while back.
 
If you like garlic butter sauce, you will love escargot. I have only ate them a handfull of times, but I loved it every time.
 
What did you mean by the protein was poor quality?

Some proteins have higher ratios of the essential amino acids than others. If a protein doesn't have all AA's then you should supplement with another type of food with that has the AA that was lacking..

I have eaten snails, I have cooked them too...very easy to prepare
