This isnt anything thats really bothering me but im curious, and also trying to keep the board moving:D

but who the hell is this guy, his body fat and vascularity is amazing, from the looks of the pic it was taken late 80's early 90s, so im stumped on how he got conditioning like this back then when no pros aren't ever showing up like this on stage now..

Thats Rick/Rich Caspari

Thats Rich or Rick Caspari can't remember his first name, he was very young when he started to look like that, 20 years old I think, he had his diet/nutrition worked out exactly, he carried a notebook around with him and would write down everything he ate, the other bodybuilders at the time were not doing as much work on the nutrition side of things.
I think the closest he came to the Olympia was 3rd when he first competed in it. I think he won the Universe title though.

Bloated.;)

Rich Gaspari

2nd in the O '86, '87, '88
4th '89
5th '90
10th '91
The he dropped out of sight. I think he made some kind of comeback later on but it amounted to nothing. His body ended up with that itred chemical look. That's why his placings dropped.

I was never that keen on Berry De May. Bob Paris is one of my all time favourites. And Gary Strydom - how awesome did he look in the first WBF championship when he came in at 265!

Yup Rich Gaspari was awesome probably still is. He went through a nasty divorce back then and then tried to make a comeback. Maybe one day he will compete in the masters.MM

Rich Gaspari was one of a kind!!! He should have beat Haney in his prime - kinda like the Cutler/Coleman thing.

The only other I can think of that has this type of vasularity is this guy - yes, our OWN Phil!!

Great memories!!!!!

I remember Gaspari very well...although he was never on my favorite bodybuilder list at te time - maybe due to the fact that when he was around he was overexposed...the guy was everywhere!!

I never was a fan of super-vascularity - but one guy who blew me away who had the veins-a-poppin' was a guy named Jessie Gautreaux (SP?)...

I always imagined Phil Hernon with shoulder-length hair and dressed in a leopard skin - in a movie like "Hercules" or "Tarzan"....he had that look (and still does, I presume). I can see Hernon with a huge club in his hand,
in a battle with Cyclops or something - and then wins the admiration of some frightened lady in distress. (LOL)

While I'm casting for film roles here - Bob Paris would have made a good "James Bond"...
Gary Strydom would have been a great "Batman" with Lee Priest as "Robin"....
and Darin Lannaghan would have been a super "Superman".

The make-up departments would have saved a lot of money, as they wouldn't need those padded costumes for the roles.

Ain't nothing like the real thing!!!
