My buddy gives me a call tonight, after his workout. He was training chest. He was waiting around to use the smith machine to do declines. Some national level competitor was using the smith, and my friend asks, how many sets left? the guy says 3. So my buddy starts to warm up, waiting around for this guy to finish his sets. After the 3rd set is over, my friend walks up to the smith, and the guy asks him what he's training that day. my buddy says, chest.. starting with declines.. to which the guy replies, FUCK DECLINES. theyre useless, youd be better off doing inclines and flat pressing. my friend asks why? the guy tells him "because of the natural progression of muscle growth, the muscle grows, and the lower chest fills out by its self as the rest of the chest grows."
Personally, i always thought that declines hit chest harder than inclines, because they placed too much emphasis on the delts??? this guy was pretty big, and no doubt on his way to his pro-card, as my friend described him, and "has never done declines".. while having a good lower chest development. What do you guys think?
