It's kind of funny when I hear guys on this site talking about how they don't like being bothered at the gym. Maybe I'm a bit egotistical but I enjoy the attention 95% of the time. I'm asked "how to" questions during every workout and although I don't spend but a minute or two, I always am polite and try to help them out if I can. I still remember when I was 20 years old and just starting out, certain guys would act like I was bothering them. But then there were those that really took the time to explain things to me and to this day I remember what they told me. I wear a tanktop everywhere I go because it's both comfortable and I think it looks pretty good on me. ;) . What's wrong with being proud of what you look like? Maybe some of you guys dont like the attention but there's nothing wrong with me that I do. I think it's really cool when someone asks me to take a pic with them while I'm at Walmart. I reallly like it when I'm at the mall and people ask me if I'm a professional wrestler. I know one thing......black girls love muscular white guys:D Is it just me, or do some of you guys feel the same way?

Mr. Movie Star getting all egotistical now :p
haha, just kidding bro.
I dont mind helping people out if they just have a few basic questions, or need a few minutes of my time, and sure, i like knowing that people look up to me, and want to look like me. Theres nothing wrong with being proud of how you look. You are right. :)

I love the attention too:D I always am happy to answer questions about diet and training. I could understand how it could bug you if you were a personal trainer though. I hardly ever get to talk about training with anyone so I jump at every chance I get.

Black chicks love white guys in shape

Great Post and I have to admit I love the attention also

When I first started working out in gyms 23 years ago, I would pray for the big dudes in the gym to say anything to me, to some how know that I existed. They never once did but one day a few years later I realized I was one of the gym big guys. All these years later it never really gets old. Call it a flaw in my personality but I love the attention. I always remember what it felt like being the scrawny young guy in the gym and I always have the time for anybody and everybody. Sometimes when I really don't need one I will ask a kid that I sense is a little like I used to be for a spot. If I notice someones been training hard and regular in the gym I will alway compliment them on their hard work and their results though I usually don't even know them. I know what an impact I can have on somebody trying to turn their health around. In a nutshell I just love being a bodybuilder and everything that comes with it.

Seriously

You can not be asking ME this:cool:

thats what its all about bro, the guy with the most black girls

LOL...it makes my girl mad. Its funny I get stopped all the time...75% of the time from guys asking "how to" questions and just the genreal " DAMN your huge! comments ......and I noticed its WAY worse at the clubs! If I were gay I would be on cloud 9! lol. Its cool though and I dont let it go to my head. I was the skinny guy for 20 years of my life so I know what its like to be on both sides of the fence and I also know there is always someone bigger and better just around the corner.

I dont mind getting my ego stroked from time to time....

i dont think anyone does...

HEY, Black girls like me when I was a skinny teeenager.:D :D

Actuallly, the best response I love is "you're 48? I don't believe that. Talk about stroking your ego, and especially when girls in their 20's checking you out. I might be old, but I refuse to look and act like it!

Being a trainer it does get annoying when people pick your brain but don't want to buy any sessions, and being a month out from competition and low, low on carbs and just trying to make it through a training session it can be tiresome cause it always seems to be the same person asking the same questions. Having said that it still is a great compliment to be respected in such a way and of course it fun to get the stares and looks. But also some dude was in line in front of me at Whole Foods and says very loudly "dude is that all steroids?" Now thats a rude mother fucker!!!!!!!!!!!! If I was slurring my speach and stumbling I doubt he would say "dude are you drunk?" Stupid hippie twerp buying his little bottle on de-ionize water.

Nobody bothers me at the gym too much. Usually because I have a friend or two with sometimes and people don't want to interfere. But OUTside the gym I get some weird questions/comments. I don't mind. What I do love are the kids. The kids just think you are Superman or something. In church or at the family's, wherever, I always end up carrying a kid in each arm and have one hanging off my neck like I'm some kind of jungle gym or something. They always ask me questions like whether I can pick up a car (which I can't of course) and things like that. At the country club, they always ask me to do this or that dive or, "again! again!" I always jackknife or gainer into a huge splash for their amusement. one kid asked me one time if I ever killed anyone! LMAO (I haven't). I split my skull open last summer doing a suicide or "pencil" dive. 5 staples...

That's funny you should say that... a few years back I had a guy ask me at the gym if I killed people for a living. I just laughed.

I like your perspective and if more people had this type of attitude in the gym, we wouldn't all be judged as dickheads and egotistical pricks. I do my part because I want to give back to a sport that I have taken a lot from. I WANT to shed a positive light on the sport but I also feel it is my responsibility, as well. I don't care if I am dieting for a show, doing cardio, whatever - I will almost always talk. The only time that I don't is when I am racing the clock to finish before the daycare closes. In that case, I will tell them that I am in a huge hurry and why and that I would be happy to answer their questions when I get my kids out of the gym daycare.

I have trained at my gym for 11 years and everyone is very supportive and they always want to know what show, when, how things are going, etc.. I would be a complete asshole if I took all of the positive support and then didn't even have the time to answer a question here or there. People that thing their "intensity" suffers or their workouts suffer from someone "interupting" them with a question is pretty sad. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if someone asking you a question fucks up your workout, you are mentally weak. You should be able to talk between a set and even have a laugh and then when you get in that set, you are in the zone.

I wouldn't put myself in the league of gentlemen on this board with my measly 5'10 219 lb frame leaned out... But im lucky enough to be one of the bigger guys at both my gyms.. I love the attention.. Part of the reason i do it.. Instant confidence and gratification.. People acknowledge and look upto your hard work and dedication. The best compliment i ever got was when a little boy was coming out of the day care and approached me during a set of bicep curls... He said "Mommy... Mommy... Look at that man's arms.. They are big... How come Daddy doesn't have arms like that!" I had the biggest grin on my face the rest of the day..

Now that is awesome. I would love to have that happen to me.

I know one thing......black girls love muscular white guys:D ?

Damn I've been saying that for years but I think that black chicks are just more audacious and outspoken than most white women and aren't scared to say whats on their mind.

The guy who doesn't like the attention is in the wrong sport or hobby or whatever you consider this.

I guess now that I think about it, I kind of like it. I always thought I didn't like it because I never thought about it while it was happening. I still prefer to be left alone though haha
By the way, you are 1000% correct, black girls LOVE muscular white guys. I was walking in the grocery store earlier this summer and a black woman drove by and shouted out the window "Hey, you aint gotta in there, you can come get in here with me. Come on with me." I was like "na, thank ya, but I got to get some food!" haha

I totally agree Skip. I could never give back all the good I've gotten from lifting. Oh, and I feel ya on the daycare. My boy's usually the last kid left:D
