It is normal. I fought it for years. Had one in the closet unused. I firmly believe my Heart Failure had a huge Apnea Component. I went into this kicking and screaming and bitchin and moaning. But I did stick with it. I have tried every style mask and have the top of the line Resmed and Philips Auto Bipap Machines. Most auto machines have settings for lower exhale pressure. The Auto Bipap lowers this even more. Also, each has a different algorithim to "predict" your exhalations. I have gotten so used to it , I put it on automatically if I lay down to read.
The mask that works best for me has memory foam. Downside is replacing the foam component every one to two months. This has kept me from using all the "mask liners" and other tricks to stop leaks. Stick with it. It is worth it.
