Im trying to find some other carbs to add to my diet.
I got natural oats,natural Beans(no sugar),brown rice.

Can you list some?

Is white rice a good source of carbs or it will spike insulin too high and not maintain blood sugar for a long period?

Try pearled barley. Its GI is in the low 20's. It has a texture similar to rice, maybe a bit softer - I like it. It does take a bit longer to cook than rice, but it's CHEAP!

Sweet corn

Any legume, such as red lentils, kidney beans, lima beans all have carbs and are higher in protein than traditional carbohydrate foods such as brown rice.

i like

sweet potatoes. not sure if they are the best
i also eat a ton of whole wheat pasta, and brown rice

COOKIES!

Lol! What kind of cookies are you eating!! :)
You could also try yams and Cream of Rice. Mmmm...:)

i buy granola in bulk from a local grocer, breaks up the monotony from the oats and brown rice meals.

Granola can be tricky especially if bought in bulk...you do not know how much protein, carbs or fat is in the product. Have you ever thought about making your own?

what about Grits? it seem i cant find any here in Canada, maybe its called another name here...

Polenta is the spanish speaking person's version of grits....both are ground maize (corn). I think in Spain, polenta is prepared more like a cake or bread product as opposed to American style grits as a cereal.

Quinoa, a bolivian cereal.

100 g = 66 g low GI carbs / 6 g fats (less than oats) / 13 g high quality proteins

It's the only vegetal source that contains all the essential amino acids, making it very suitable for vegetarians.

Not as tasty as oats (if oats can be...) but definitely a more interesting product.

Is this for maintaining, losing or growing? I like higher glycemic index carbs for growing to make myself hungry when they get processed.

Does anybody have experience with Quinoa? I have ordered some to try substitute for carbs and protein. Me and my wife are getting pretty tired of steaks. I think I read some were that 1 cup of it has the same amount of protein as a 12oz steak. What about as a post workout meal instead of something like waxy maze. I read that some people think you should keep waxy by itself so that the protein doesn't slow down the digestion. By using Quinoa you would be getting both protein and carbs from the same source. Or would this have the opposite effect and be slow digesting? I could be really off on this since I have just started paying attention to what i am eating.

The raw ingredient that you make grits from (ground dried corn) is typically called cornmeal in Canada, you should be able to find it in the baking aisle or by the pasta depending on the grocery store. There might be some difference in how finely it is ground compared to the US, but I'm not sure.

Ezekiel Bread

I know Cutler loves this stuff does anybody have the macronutrient breakdown for a serving of this stuff?

I NEVER eat any kinda bread while dieting for a show ( gluten=water retention) but this stuff would be great and easy to deal with.

Ezekiel 4:9® Organic Sprouted 100% Whole Grain Flourless Bread

100% FLOURLESS • COMPLETE PROTEIN • WHOLE GRAIN BREAD

GLYCEMIC INDEX: 36

Ezekiel 4:9® Sprouted Grain Bread is inspired by the Holy Scripture verse: "Take also unto thee Wheat, and Barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and Spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make bread of it..."Ez 4:9

We discovered when these six grains and legumes are sprouted and combined, an amazing thing happens. A complete protein is created that closely parallels the protein found in milk and eggs. In fact, the protein quality is so high, that it is 84.3% as efficient as the highest recognized source of protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids. There are 18 amino acids present in this unique bread - from all vegetable sources - naturally balanced in nature.

Ezekiel 4:9® Bread is made from freshly sprouted organically grown grains, is naturally flavorful and bursting with nutrients. Rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and natural fiber with no added fat.

INGREDIENTS: Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat, Filtered Water, Organic Malted Barley, Organic Sprouted Whole Millet, Organic Sprouted Whole Barley, Organic Sprouted Whole Lentils, Organic Sprouted Whole Soybeans, Organic Sprouted Whole Spelt, Fresh Yeast, Sea Salt.

My personal favorite is my home cooked black beans recipe that I got from my wife's friend from Cuba

1 lb presoaked (overnight) black beans
6 cups water
4 big cloves garlic diced
2 bay leaves
2 chicken bullion cubes (I don't add any more salt to the recipe because of these)
Simmer about 2 hours mostly covered then add 1 sliced green bell pepper and cook 1 more hour.

try that for a bean dish variation.
I can eat a bowl by themselves they taste so good! + you have enough to last most of a week in the fridge.
