All of us have made mistakes along the way in this game and have learned from them..hopefully. What single greatest tip could you give to someone in the sport of bodybuilding?

Any level novice to advanced.
 
When preparing for a contest listen to one person! Do not take what someone has told you and ask 50 different people if this sounds right or what do they think.;)
 
Honestly

Pick one guy........ask him.........trust him.......if you do not trust him do not use him or ask him......asking 50 people will confuse you 50 times.
 
Get Lean

If I was just starting out today knowing what I know now I would get as lean as possible with out the aids of anything but intelligent training and diet. I would then build on my physique with an emphasis on quality. Year after year all of my gains would be quality, not fat, water, pus, etc.. This would also establish good training and diet habits that would serv me later if my physique evolved enough to think about going on stage.
 
Don't be OCD and make things harder than they have to..dont measure your food, overalnyize, pick a program, and fucking work it to it wont work any more.
Just eat.
 
Ditch the salt!

I've noticed a HUGE difference by cutting salt way back.
 
Dont do a trail carb deplete carb load 7 days out of a competition.:eek::mad:

i feel salt would be needed as you would want the body to hold some degree of water to stay hydrated?
 
And IMO the biggest mistake as far as diet goes: don't let yourself get fat in the off-season on the pretext that you wanna put on "mass"... depression guaranteed when all those pounds fade away once your start dieting, leaving you hollow like a ghost.
 
Look at mirror and not scale

Stay lean even when you want to add muscle

Dont overdo cardio

Always massage after injections to avoid scar tissues (OUCH)

I dont want to see my bf % higher than the 4% I carry year round ... well ok it's 10% :D but in my most beautiful dream it's 4% ...and I need to mirror to see my whole body :D ... and Im 380lbs also :D:cool:

have fun with it ... once it stops becoming fun and is more of a job/chore/interference/nuisance than take a break. Sometimes we forgot why we started in the first place.
 
Dont focus on how much weight you push-it's bodybuilding-focus on pump,range of motion,and most important the exercise/routine that works for you.

When I was younger I took my offseason weight up to 260 lbs just to lose 60 before getting onstage. What a waste. I was a fat slob!!!!

ditto! i agree completely (had to learn the hard way though)

also, bodybuilding is a marathon not a sprint ...IE.. rome wasn't built in a day :) (this covers a variety of things ;) )!!!!!!!
 
Be consistant with what you do. Training, Diet and sleep. Be dedicated but not obsessed and above all be patient!!
