Bison or Beef... Which do you prefer?

Personally, I prefer the taste of Beef...

That being said, I just ordered a good amount of pure Grass Fed Bison... Ground Chuck (94-95% lean), Ground Round (98-99% lean), Sirloin Roasts, and more...

Roughly 15lbs worth, and really it wasn't very expensive, even with next day shipping.

My question is... Is grass fed beef or grass fed Bison better for you?

Is there a preference for one besides flavor or price? If so, why?

I have had bison many times, I just never ordered any before like this. Actually thinking about it I am getting hungry.

Just wanted to get an idea to how you all feel.

I use both with both being grass fed. I prefer the taste of bison but it's just too expensive compared to beef.

Where did you order your from?
 
I would def choose bison over beef. Less fat ounce for ounce. Grass fed,no antibiotics,much healthier. Grass fed beef is healthier also. It's a great source of good fatty acids like CLA and omega-3. Cows should'nt eat grain. It makes them sick,hence the reason they have to use so many antibiotics. Cattle grow faster on grain,but it's not healthy for them. Sadly food is produced for profit in our country,not for the health of the consumer.;)
 
Grass Fed Beef only becuase you can cook it a little longer without drying out.

wasnt enough of a deference to pay 8.49lb for ground lean bison for me.

There's a great documentary out called "Food Inc." It was actually nominated for an Oscar. It explains why cows should eat only grass, which is their natural food. If I remember they feed cattle with corn by-products and when they eat it, they produce some sort of bacteria that is responsible for things like mad cow disease, etc.. I'm not exactly sure, BUt it was a very interesting documentary.
 
Definately Bison. If cooked right there is nothing better!
 
Growing up on a beef farm, I have to go with beef. I personally wouldn't mind using more bison pre-contest when I have to cut my fats down to get into show condition, but for the price (I buy the beef very cheaply off of my dad) it isn't feasible. Offseason, however, two pounds a day of ground beef is the norm.
 
Just to add a quick question....

What do you prefer in the way of cuts or ground?

I typically get Top round or Sirloin cuts... and For gruund I like getting Ground Round or Ground Sirloin... Any preferences?
