what is to low??

i was 118/66, nurse said it was excellent.

green tea, niacin, policosanol are the supps i take.

90/60 or so is low norm, but there really is no such thing as too low as long as you are asymptomatic (dizzy, lightheaded, syncope). Many who are used to running a significantly higher pressure (>20mm Hg change for example) would experience some of these symptoms at pressures that low. Also of course absent any major cardiac event or pathology (CHF, dysrhythmia, dehydration, shock, etc.). Hypotension is more about relativity than some specific range. What is hypotensive for one may not be hypotensive for another. Your supplements may be helping somewhat, but @ your height & weight, 5'8" 260# or so I believe you are, your BP has more to do w/ genetics than anything. Most could not reasonably expect to duplicate this by simply employing your supplement regimen.

Rex.

600mg X2 per day green tea
10mg policasonal x2 per day
400mg niacin before bed with 6oz of alcohol (red wine or coors light)

thanks rex, i'm actually down about 12-15lbs as i am taking a break, needed mentally more so than physically. this is my lowest reading ever at a higher than normal bodyweight just wondered how low was 2 low. oh i also use red yeast rice x2 per day at 400mg each. i have become obesessed with cholesterol and blood pressure readings, lol. i have went from one end of the spectrum to the other in both.

pretty amazing edge

so your saying your blood pressure was much higher before using these supplements?

Thats not low at all... My bp usually runs 105/48... My doc said that its fine... I was sick a while back with a bad sinus infection and my bp went up to 113/80 and he said he could tell from my bp numbers that I had an infection of some kind...

i have been following this program for about a year. i have been as high i think as 148/80. in addition i cut back my sodium intake i have a major liking to chips & salsa and i try to drink more water though i know i still dont drink enough, dont hit up wendy's or hardy's as much as i used to. some of it, the niacin and alcohol were recommendations from my doc, he was going to put me on niaspan but we tried just regular niacin 1st. i use baby aspirin if i am taking supps that substancially increase protein synthesis again by request of my dr. could be the supps, could be my genetics, heck who knows but the stuff i take (green tea, etc) is so cheap i think it is definetly worth a try. i think like anything ya have to be consistent and give it time to work. havent had the cholestrol checked so hoping i have made changes there also been as low as 19 my good cholesterol, got it back up to low 30's last time i checked.

garlic extract also helps lower the bp...i have always heard about 1 glass of red wine way before i even heard about all these other supplements...i was always rounding 140/83. now im around 124/72.
but just like edge said, lowering your sodium intake ias also very important. i too had a sodium addiction...lol

You don't mind the sugar in the wine every night? I ask because I used to have a glass of wine every night but stopped recently due to the diet. I also have low BP I found out recently which is great news to me because it used to be so high a few months back It was 118/63 or 118/68 I canot remeber but regardless im happy.

I was taking fish oil, l-arginine, asprin, and lotrel.
