I got some of my blood test results back today and my Creatine Kinase (CK) levels were 2500 . (normal 1-200) . Now I know this levels get elevated after a work out adn I had the blood test done just 10 hours after a chest work out and 4 days after a leg work out (my legs were super sore, cause this was the first time i had worked them out in 2 month.) . But has neone heard of their levels this high after a normal work out. I talked to JT and his levels were in the 1200 after a intense back work out..... And he is MUCH bigger than me and from his body i m guessing his workouts are much intenser too..

Does this high a CK mean that my muscles are just weak and frail?? and I will never be able to be big? Cause the harder i work out the more destroyed they will become. :-( . This values were not even after a super intense wrok out.. I would rate it maybe a 7 on a scale of (1-10) .

I was a bit dehydrated. Could that be a reason y?

WE HAVE NO IDEA ON HERE, YOUR DOCTOR WILL KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR HISTORY THAN THE GUESSES YOU WILL GET FROM HERE. YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT NOW. GET OFF OF HERE AND CALL HIM NOW.

already talked to the doc

Well, the doctor said "seems like u been working out very hard."
But I never really had a "doctor." Until 15 my dad was my doctor but then I been moving around. This is the first time i had an indepth blood test done and the doctors here are not too thorough.. She just said to keep an eye on it and too see if gets no higher than the two thous.

But has neone heard of their levels this high after a normal work out.

I going through CK testing regulary the last several months because I have devloped a myopathy of the muscles. The doctors I'am seeing all said that if you are an athlete/weightlifter you can have resting CK levels double of normal and higher after a workout. If your on gear and otehr supplements that can raise them also.

Why are you having your CK levels checked anyways and didn't your doctor go over the high levels with you.

Rest of the results. My doctor said nothing to worry about, its just cause of the work out and said i am worrying too much. But I just want to be thorough and i dont think m doctor is too thorough..

i need help here too if anyone understands, I had a blood test last week and my creatinine came back 1.8. My doc says my kidney function is decreased due to my Testosterone. I kill myself in the gym every day but the doctor doesn't know any correlation between hard workouts and creatinine. Instead she said that if I don't stop Test i could end up on dialysis!

The high end of the range is 1.4 so it is not really that high.......

Any thoughts?

Mike

You can have high creatinine just from taking creatine. It's a by-product from taking a lot of creatine although if you aren't taking any and you're a normal small guy, then you may have a problem, but it isn't related to testosterone. Kidney function doesn't get decreased by testosterone. That doc clearly doesn't know what she's talking about. Your level of 1.8 isn't anything to worry about.

As a muscle contracts, ATP provides the energy for cross bridge movement and detachment and for operation of the calcium pump. Surprisingly, muscles store very limited stores of ATP; 4-6 seconds worth at most, just enough to get you going.
Since ATP is the only source used directly for contractile activities, it must be regenerated as fast as it is broken down if contraction is to continue. Fortunately, after ATP is hydrolyzed to ADP and inorganic phosphate, it is regenerated within a fraction of a second by three pathways: (1) by interaction of ADP with creatine phosphate, (2)from stored glycogen via the anaerobic pathway called anaerobic glycolosis, and(3) by aerobic respiration. The second and third metabolic pathway are used to produce ATP in all body cells.
Direct Phosphorylation of ADP by Creatine Phosphate. As we begin to exercise vigorously, ATP stored in working is consumed within a few twitched. Then Creatine Phosphate, a unique high-energy molecule stored in muscles, is tapped to regenerate ATP while the metabolic pathways are adjusting to the suddenly higher demands for ATP. The reaction that occurs couple CP with ADP. The overall result is almost instant transfer of energy and a phosphate group from CP to ADP to form ATP:

Creatine Phosphate + ADP = creatine + ATP

Muscle cells store much more creatine phosphate then ATP, and the coupled reaction, catalyzed by the enzyme creatine kinase, is so efficient that the amount of ATP in muscle change very little during the initial period of contraction.
Together, stored ATP and CP provide for maximum muscle power for about 15 seconds- long enough to energize a 100-meter dash. The couple reaction is readily reversible, and CP reserves are replenished during periods of inactivity, when the muscle fibers are producing more ATP than they need by other pathways.

Creatine Kinase is the is the enzyme that allows for this type of energy production.

What is your creatine consumption like? 10 grams a day?

High creatinine levels in your urine mean your kidneys are filtering correctly and dispelling creatinine. Creatine in your blood is indicative of other problems. Internally your kidneys are allowing for the creatinine to pass back into your system, when it should be expelling the creatinine. There is a ratio of clearance that should be of concern to your doctor.

What does the test result mean?
Increased creatinine levels in the blood suggest diseases or conditions that affect kidney function. These can include:

damage to or swelling of blood vessels in the kidneys (glomerulonephritis) caused by, for example, infection or autoimmune diseases;
bacterial infection of the kidneys (pyelonephritis);
death of cells in the kidneys’ small tubes (acute tubular necrosis) caused, for example, by drugs or toxins;
prostate disease, kidney stone, or other causes of urinary tract obstruction; or
reduced blood flow to the kidney due to shock, dehydration, congestive heart failure, atherosclerosis, or complications of diabetes.
Creatinine can also increase temporarily as a result of muscle injury.

Rest of the results. My doctor said nothing to worry about, its just cause of the work out and said i am worrying too much. But I just want to be thorough and i dont think m doctor is too thorough..

I'm not so sure poor renal and hepatic function is nothing to worry about, considering your a baby(21) and you kidneys and liver aren't turning out as effeciently as they sould.

Start drinking more water and talk to bigA or kawasaki about some synthetek products that may help your case.

You simply need to get retested and go in hydrated and off working out and no cardio 2-3 days before the test.

Mike,

How long were you off cardio or training before the test?

Are you taking any supplemental creatine?

This is just one of the tests they do with a reg blood test.

CK is different Bro, its more specific.They ae not usually on regular Test that I'm awhare of unless his doctors use differnt regular Creatine testing.

The creatine on most regular blood work that the doctors order are
Random Creatine and sometimes BUN Creatine I thought.

CK they usually suspect something to add that. At leats on all my blood tet CK was only added when they suspected something evrything else wa srandom creatine sometimes BUN.

"Elevation of CK is an indication of damage to muscle. It is therefore indicative of injury, rhabdomyolysis, myocardial infarction, muscular dystrophy, myositis, myocarditis, malignant hyperthermia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. It is also seen in McLeod syndrome and hypothyroidism. The use of statin medications, which are commonly used to decrease serum cholesterol levels, may be associated with elevation of the CPK level in about 1% of the patients taking these medications, and with actual muscle damage in a much smaller proportion."

Just a side note:
My first real blood test at 20 revealed a CPK level of 2500, the nurse called me the day after and told me to "call 911 and that I had had a severe myocardial infarction" I go to the ER and find out after many hours it wasn't true and since then educated myself and had blood drawn whenever possible on 2-3 days off activity.

Get retested as I said above.

Massive G bro,
YES I am taking the max (3 scoops) of SuperPump250 (creatine product and took it the day before the test (the next morning).
I had a heavy /intense workout the day before the blood test.....

Wouldn't worry about it too much.

bhumik, may not have much to worry about either but it is obvious his levels are high. How long have you been on cycle and what are you cycling? Both your renal and hepatic function seem to be slightly impaired. Dbols, Winstrol, Anadrol, have you been drinking a lot of alcohol lately? Something is going on...
