The gym I work for has about ten gyms in San Antonio. I am able to work out at any of them. Yesterday, I went to one I haven't been to before and did legs. I went with one of the female trainers I work with (what a cutie). Anyway, they had this weird ass leg press machine. The back support was shaped like a bowl. It forced you to curve your spine into a very bad position. On top of that, this was the first time I've done leg press in several years. I really had no idea how much weight I could handle so I wanted to find out. I did squats first, then started on the leg press. I started with around 400 to get a feel for the machine. I knew it felt wrong, but I wasn't smart enough to quit. Then I went to 600. I did a few reps and on about the third one, I brought it down and due to the position my torso was in, the weight came down in a strange place. I felt a feeling like when you smash a small bag of chips in your hand, except the feeling was on the bottom of the left side of my rib cage. I knew I screwed something up, but it didn't seem too bad, so like a genious, I kept going. I went up to 1000 lbs and did about ten reps. With every rep, I could feel that whatever I did was getting worse. I knew I'd regret it later, but I kept working out. I went on to leg ext, leg curl and calf raises....

Well, today I can't pick up anything over about 7-8 lbs. I can't breathe deeply. Can't pick up my left arm, can barely drive. When I turn or move suddenly, I can see and feel my bottom rib popping in and out. I can also feel it grind. The pain is fuckin' terrible. On top of that, there is something either severely strained or torn in or under my left lat.

I was a real dumbass for going on when I knew I already hurt myself, but sometimes when the adrenalines flowing, you just do shit that you know you shouldn't. Now, I guess I'm gonna be sidelined for a few weeks. Right after I was just starting to grow again too. :mad:

Shit bro that i heard thats painful. Get better in a hury!
 
hmmm what did they say the statistic was... dont quote me on the exact amount but SOMETHING like 85% of people who get an injury in the gym (pec tear, lat tear, bicep tear, etc...) felt a little twinge or pain and knew something was wrong and tried to just push past it and ignore it. I personally if i feel the slightest sharp unusual pain that i know isnt normal, i stop.
 
Yeah, I definitely knew better. I've done this kind of crap so many times in the past, you'd think I'd learn my lesson....I'm sure it didn't help that I was working out with this awesome girl. Y'all know how it is. When you're a big gorilla you have to impress people. Especially when those people happen to be very good looking and have a vagina. :D
 
i hope you vent to a hospital and did what you need to do.
i know myself.the more i get ijured the less i care,but not this year.you know you need to take care of it.so bro do it and do it fast.

No, I didn't go to the doctor. I've broken ribs (and various other bones) before in fights, so I know there's not really anything they can do. They'll just charge me $1000 or so to tell me that I have a broken rib and a screwed up muscle. Some pain drugs would be nice though.
 
Yeah I know that machine its a real piece of shit! I cant believe you loaded up 600lbs on it I would have thought the whole thing would have collapsed.

Well I actually went up to 1000. It did feel a little shaky. If it would've collapsed, I suppose I'd really have something to bitch about. I'm sure I'd be much more screwed up than I am now.

At least I did manage to impress the girl. I'm not sure all the pain and not being able to work out for a few weeks is worth it though. :D
 
So I guess that means you won't be visiting me?

I'm trying to get something worked out, Xcel. I don't have a day off until Thursday, but I think that was when you're leaving. I'll try to switch days off with someone else. My work schedule is my only problem. The stupid rib and back definitely won't stop me.

You're right about the sweet smell of vagina. I have no doubt whatsoever that if she wasn't there I would've stopped at the very first sign of trouble. I'm pretty sure there's a chemical that pussy exudes that makes the male brain shut down.
 
I love working out next to a fine as chick that you just want to lick the sweat off her ass ;). Especially when she gives you a heads up like yeah ur a big dude and i know im hot so....:)

Yep. My training partner was trying to show off in front of this girl he just met. She's double jointed, she can put her legs behind her head and shit, you know the type. Anyway, he was trying to show off on the smith machine with lunges and tore his damn hamstring, lol. That crazy bastard.

Man, that's no shit. When I was in my mid 20's I took 4-5 weeksoff and first day back I was squatting. I felt strong so I went to 315 and right around the 6 repI felt a twing in my left lower back on the way up. So I pause at the top and do a little mental check out and everyting felt ok so I finished up the set at ten reps and then did two more sets. By that time I knew something wasn't rigth so I quit and go home. Next morning I couldn't stand straight up.It took me 4 weeks before I was over that little fiasco.
Now, ANY odd feeling while working out and I quit right there and call it a day. At 39 I can't be too careful.
