The gym I work for has about ten gyms in San Antonio. I am able to work out at any of them. Yesterday, I went to one I haven't been to before and did legs. I went with one of the female trainers I work with (what a cutie). Anyway, they had this weird ass leg press machine. The back support was shaped like a bowl. It forced you to curve your spine into a very bad position. On top of that, this was the first time I've done leg press in several years. I really had no idea how much weight I could handle so I wanted to find out. I did squats first, then started on the leg press. I started with around 400 to get a feel for the machine. I knew it felt wrong, but I wasn't smart enough to quit. Then I went to 600. I did a few reps and on about the third one, I brought it down and due to the position my torso was in, the weight came down in a strange place. I felt a feeling like when you smash a small bag of chips in your hand, except the feeling was on the bottom of the left side of my rib cage. I knew I screwed something up, but it didn't seem too bad, so like a genious, I kept going. I went up to 1000 lbs and did about ten reps. With every rep, I could feel that whatever I did was getting worse. I knew I'd regret it later, but I kept working out. I went on to leg ext, leg curl and calf raises....
Well, today I can't pick up anything over about 7-8 lbs. I can't breathe deeply. Can't pick up my left arm, can barely drive. When I turn or move suddenly, I can see and feel my bottom rib popping in and out. I can also feel it grind. The pain is fuckin' terrible. On top of that, there is something either severely strained or torn in or under my left lat.
I was a real dumbass for going on when I knew I already hurt myself, but sometimes when the adrenalines flowing, you just do shit that you know you shouldn't. Now, I guess I'm gonna be sidelined for a few weeks. Right after I was just starting to grow again too.
