Hey there! I have a question regarding weightlifting and kidney patients. I've been diagnosed with kidney disease, and weightlifting has been a significant part of my fitness routine. However, I'm uncertain if it's safe for someone with kidney issues to continue lifting weights. I've come across conflicting information on this topic, so I believe consulting a urologist would provide me with the most accurate advice. As a specialist in urinary system health, a urologist would have expertise in understanding the potential impact of weightlifting on kidney patients. Can you shed some light on whether weightlifting is generally safe for individuals with kidney disease, or if there are specific precautions I should take? Your insights on this matter would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance!

Blood pressure is far higher while lifting weights. So damaging the small small vessels/veins in the kidney would be easier to do it they are already damaged i would think. Along with the extra load from dealing with injured muscles and healing them.

If you have kidney disease, you probably should be seeing a nephrologist (not a urologist). A nephrologist can provide you with guidance regarding diet modification, BP management, training limitations (if any), etc., based on the underlying cause of your disease and your stage of kidney disease.
