Cardiologist on Wednesday

Disclaimer: I do not know steroids/growth caused my heart problems. Their are other potential causes. I am trying to cover all bases, because quite frankly the statistics for people with cardiomyopathy that progress to the point of heart failure only have a 1 on three chance of living five years after diagnosis. I want to be that 1 so bear with me please.

Thanks to all members for you kind thoughts. I will make my first visit since I left the hospital for heart failure on Wednesday. I have detailed for him my cycles as best I can remember for the last few years. They mainly consisted of 500-750 mg test, 225 Fina, and some growth. In years past, 10+ years ago I did use larger quantities.

I am focusing primarily on the last few years, as I have also been competing in season in a support that requires superior cardiovascular conditioning for the last few years and I just don't think I could have competed if my heart was bad. I did drop from 265 to 230 to compete better during the season.

My question is this: If the substances in question are test, fina, and growth, what are things/hormone levels etc. that I can point the doctor to look for that could contribute to heart failure/weakened heart? I am aware that the growth promotes the so-called "anti diuertic hormone" and may have helped lead to the congestive heart failure, but I don't know what else to look for. Any help?

Thank you in advance,
Pekkerwood

If steroids were the cause then what's the difference? Steroids are something that you can quit. If it wasn't steroids then I would think that it would be more important to find out the cause simply because it could possibly be something that is an on going. Fixing this may halt the progrees of the disease and then your doctors can concentrate on getting you better.

Thanks..

Thanks Magnum. It is so hard to talk to these "godlike" creatures I am trying to make my time count. I also have high blood pressure when on that went untreated over time. I never treated it because it was only while I was "on". Unfortunately I started being "on" six months out of the year.

I also had untreated sleep apnea. I didn't get it treated sooner because I would spend half my year at 230 and it would go away. Unfortunately I was spending half the year at 260-265 untreated. ( I have since been treated and have cpap machine).

These in addition to my steroid/growth use, are likely suspects. Both of these were directly a result of my use.

There is also still the chance of a virus/bacterial infection though they have left no signs that could be detected on the MRI. Again, It is so hard to talk to these fellows, that I want them to have all information.

BTW the plus side of this. I have eaten more carbs in the last two weeks than I have in the last two years. Bananas, apples, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries etc.

I wish you all the best no matter what the cause. Keep us infomed if you can. Thanks

any idea on how long you think you had sleep apnea. my specialist told me if my apnea were to go untreated that in 5-10 years time i was looking at heart problems, stroke, etc. thankfully i am cured via the surgery.

sleep apnea

I think I have had it off and on for at least ten years, it seems to affect me when I am >230 lbs. My sleep apnea doctor did some rudimentary heart tests and didn't mention anything. I am picking up those records tomorrow a.m. to take with me.
