having an issue with chest mass! is it better to do presses with barbell or dumbbells for mass. also when i am doing dips do i need to keep my elbows in or out to work my chest. my shoulders are large enough so i want to isolate my chest more for better growth. any help would be appericated. thanks

I have the same exact problem... only this year did my chest gain some noticable size... i'd say try a certain exercise for 3-4 weeks and keep on consistantly adding weights (i only use one exercise these days). If nothing happens, change the exercise... for me, the only thing that puts on the beef is inclined smith presses with a low incline on the bench... like around 25-30 degree incline, not the 45 degree that they usually suggest.
hope that helps

thanks bro but my upper chest blows up just my mid and lower chest, especially my lower chest. i actually had to move inclines to the end of my work just to give everything else a chance to catch up.

Damn you're lucky, my upper chest does not respond well buy my middle chest grows easily.

Larry Scott is a big supporter of reverse grip dips. Instead of your palms facing your body, they are turned away. You just have to be strict with the execution. Awesome pumps.Hope it helps.

JP I had a similar problem in that any chest work I did just did not effect my upper chest. What I discovered, kind of by accident, is doing incline dumbell flyes for several sets and then doing weighted bench dips, and my upper chest has come up nicely.

On the bench dips though I have my hands parallel (22" apart), not close together on a bench. I built my own bench dip station out of wood (feet out on a box).

mid and lower chest help?

ok guys can anyone give me any suggestions on how to build more mass in lower to mid chest?

Decline db presses.

My chest has a hard time growing, specifically lower chest. I do decline db presses, then incline db presses, then flat db presses. Thats all I do for chest. Most other exercises (flys, crossovers, dips) dont seem to add much if any mass. Just go all out on the presses.

If you want to work your lower chest do decline like others have mentioned. Stick to heavy weight, dont go all the way up or all the way down. Make sure your either adding weight each week or reps. For dips instead of worrying about the grip change the angle that your doing the dip for chest lean forward more if you were wanting to work tri's you would be straight up and down. Hope this helps.:)

i also recommend , extreme stretches , after you are done with chest .these done wonders ,for my chest .

wake

I'd say stick with incline and decline presses... They are the two exercises that seem to really put mass on my chest... Again, go heavy, but make sure you control the weight and perform good clean reps... I would stick with those two movements for a couple of months and see how they go... You can also throw in some widowmakers at the end to really speed up growth...
