I've been training off and on since I was a teenager, now 42yrs. I'm confussed about all I've learned over the yrs versus what I've been reading about HIT. I read Growth Principles for Beginners and it makes sense. One issue I have a hard time getting over is; I love working out and like to(need to) go to the gym daily. 1st question regarding those principles; What about cardio? What about 30min 1st thing in the am?

i cant see cardio ever being a bad thing. remember cardio vascular health is just as important as everything else. you would be fine doing 1/2 hr cardio every morning. as for training frequency you can use a 2 way split and hit the gym 4 times a week if that suits you better. if you have any questions feel free to pm me and ill help any way i can.

Thats some pretty solid advice about the cardio...from my experience/education what I have found is this: if your goal is to maintain a solid level of health (being overall) then all aspects of training should be maintained at the same time, ala concurrent training...

what I mean is keep it simple: strength train 3 times per week, cardio 3-5 times per week, stretching daily or at least EOD. Over the years I have tried and read about MOST (not every) training program/principle there is (I have not tried doggcrapp training). What I found is THEY ALL WORK. Up to a point you need to change your focus and goals throught the course of the year to see and maintain results....

Choose a program and stick with it for 6-8 weeks, take a deload (easy) week then pick another and go for that!

Now if your an athlete or looking for specific performance goals, ie hypertrophy, strength, power or sport performance; then there are programs that are better geared for those objectives.

Length of time with CONSISTENT training ie not taking more than a week or two off for an extended period of time.

what you are currently doing (training, diet, etc)

and any supplements, limitations and/or other pertinent information.

with this we can come up with a game plan.

I've been back into the gym real serious now for 9months. I've been training 1body part/day; 1/chest 2/legs 3/delts 4/back 5/arms; Principle 3 excercises /8-10 total working sets/8-12 reps. Cardio 4xweek, Diet is strict eat 6xday I'm just not seeing the results I think I should be getting. Do you think the training techniques outlined Growth Principles for Beginners is the answer? I would like to work out atleast 4Xweek. However size is the ultimate goal!

DC Training is the way to go.
 
the morning is the best possible time for cardio and it will ONLY do you good...as for training routines you cant go wrong with any type of HIT or DC its all great stuff...just pick one and commit to it...alex
