Cosmetic Surgery...Scar Removal?

I'm just wondering if any of you fine ladies and gentleman have ever had any cosmetic surgeries? I have a scar on my right cheek that has literally bothered me for 15 years. I've done some research on dermabrassion and chemical peels and it seems as though full recovery (redness, flaking, etc..)
can take many weeks. I would like to hear some opinions and advice from anyone who might have experience with this type of thing such as results after surgery, pricing, and finding a reputable doctor in my area.

My dad had a huge mole removed from his back many years ago. Left a nasty scar that never went away.

Then, about 3 years ago he decided to have the scar fixed. He went to a plastic surgeon who happens to be a friend of the family - he's also consistently named as one of the best plastic surgeons in NYC by "New York Magazine". For those outside of NY, to be named as a "Top Doc" by NY Magazine is a very big deal...

Anyhow, the surgery to remove the scar was done under local anesthesia and dad experienced no ill effects nor any pain following the procedure. (Took less than 1 hour) The follow-up visit was about 1 week later and the dressing was removed. At that point it looked like a nasty scar - it was much larger than the original scar, redder, and had that "fresh surgery" look.

Well, it faded after a few weeks and months. It was about 95% gone after about 9 months - COMPLETELY INVISIBLE AFTER ABOUT 1 YEAR.

It was as if the entire episode was erased from his skin. It took about (just under) 1 full year to get to that point, but it was obviously well worth it.

I asked the doc at the follow up visit why the scar was so much bigger than the initial scar he was removing and he said that it's not really the size of the incision, but how it's made and how it's closed up. The initial scar - left by the mole removal by a dermatologist - was not a "cosmetic quality" procedure.

If you find a good plastic surgeon, the results should be as impressive.

Have several scars across my face from different things. Had some kind of flesh eating thing happen once and have scars on my forehead from falling lol and one across my nose from being smashed in the face with a glass mug(still kicked his ass lol). Never had any surgery to fix, but I used to use an isotonic type of vitamin. IT was called OPC I think. The name of the company was American something or other. There line comes in colorful funking shaped plastic bottles. this company has all kinds of things that will help with the scars. Doesn't seem like much but it works. Do a search and see if you can find it, I'll try and do the same.
