Cutting weight for a meet

I've cut like that before for wresting from 190 to 165 in a few days especially the last day i cut about 8lbs of water weight but i felt a little weaker how does this translate over into powerlifting. I gave up wrestling cause i wanted to compete at 198 raw in maryland and im about 30lbs away from the record at 205 so i cant really gain wait and i would still need to cut weight without losing too much strength... or is it not that bad once you bloat back up. I guess im just asking should i expect to not hit as high on my maxes when i cut?

Good rule of thumb I used was cutting 8 lbs and under you would be fine without losing any strength. After that you would see some. Once you get done weighing in, pound some Pedialite (grape was my fav) and go eat.

Your better off lifting in the heavier weight class. How many meets have you done? Unless you're going for a record or something there's really no point in cutting weight for you.
