Deadlift variation for width

Was just wondering if anyone incorperates deadlifts with flared lats to help promote width. Was watching a vid of milos and he advocates this just wondering if anyone has benifited from this form. Basically your in the front relaxed pose whilst doing deads as apposed to regular power deads.
 
If deads are done correctly they will not only add width but thickness as well. Very hard to keep lats flared with max poundages. Would have your shoulders rounded and that's not good.
 
Now, I dont by that at all. Nor would I try flaring the lats. My thought is as the shoulder is a ball and socket, flaring the lats pulls the ball a bit away from the socket. Now try to add some type of weight like a bar while doing this would not be ideal. Just to er on the side of caution.

To really make sure you work the back, make sure you are pulling back with the shoulder blades at the top of the movement. Pull back...dont lean back.
