Decided to try sumo deadlifts for the first time yesterday. Now, not having ever pulled this way. I did a light warmup with 225 and when I put the bar. I felt a slight sharpness from my groin down to my knee. I can still kind of function today. I am just wondering, is it a pull or just a very deep level of soreness cause i never pulled this way. Was really shocked to feel the differnce from conv to sumo. Thanks.

HARD TO SAY BRO, COULD BE A SLIGHT PULL ..... I WOULD ICE IT 20 MINS ON / 20MINS OFF AND BACK OFF FOR 4-6 DAYS
 
thanks for your advice amp1. I did what you recommended and i do feel better. Been 4 days since it happend. Gonna do some heavy bp and some very light sumo just to get use to it
 
yea, probably just a slight pull. but if pulling sumo is something you want to start working on more then you should try doing some flexability work for your groin, hip flexors, and adductors to try to avoid pulls and strains.
