Say that someone had txt and doc files, but they were deleted months ago and evidence eliminator was used several times to "clean" the system. Would these txt files still be able to be brought back up? Is there a way to truly wipe of file off the harddrive? what if I go ahead and also do a system restore, just clean everything, would that help?
I don't want to destroy my harddrive, but I want to make sure that certain txt/doc files can't be brought back.

thanks

More than likely, but I do not necessarily trust it. If you are not using Vista or a MAC, google Eraser 5.7, download it and wipe your free space on a regular basis and is free. You can schedule it to do so at night. This will do a DoD (Department Of Defense) wipe where it takes free space, writes 0's then 1's about 7 times, then makes a final write of 1's and 0's together in no apparent code form. This is one of the utiltities used by DoD and approved by DoD to declassify (taking a hard drive out of a classified area and reusing it in an unclassed area.) a drive and they have deemed it not recoverable by any means. I, myself have tried to recover data after as a test, and there is no way I was able to.
