Doctors Advice today about Testosterone products

Nolvadex
Tribulus
Avena Satvia
Novedex Xt , Attack
Gamma-O
(natural test boosters)

these supplements will shut your bodies testosterone down just like steroids via the negative feed back loop. after i explained that these products stimulate LH production he said the following.

the supplments cause you to produce more LH which in tern makes you produce more testosterone which in tern shuts down your LH which in term lowers your testosterone.

I'm kind of alarmed to have most of these doctors advising my health if I am ever in need of real medical attention.

His advice is not wrong... he just didn't explained it correctly... the mechanism by which androgens ( Test ) is regulated in the body is by a negative feedback mechanism. The thing he doesn't know is that all those products are used as post cycle therapy to get test levels back to normal since production by the body is very minimal, they start the (GnRH) from the hypothalamus which makes the anterior pituitary secrete LH thus increasing production of test in the gonads. The body respond by a high concentration of test in the bloodstream by a negative feedback mechanism to restore levels to normal.

UH....Didn't you mean to say "stimulates Leydig cells" in testes, thus a resulting increase of endogenous testosterone levels?

That is correct, leydig cells produce test.

the thing that really blows my mind is the lack of open-mindedness among a lot of physicians. my brother and i were just discussing something he saw on cnbc or msnbc about growth hormone administration for anit-aging. he said there was a doc in favor of its benefits, and one against it. the one for it was not open to any possibe side effects, while the one against it basically said it didnt work and only produced negative side effects. i would hate to one day get cancer or some other terminal disease and have a doc that wasnt open to some new form of cutting-edge treatment because of an absolutely closed mind. how can someone go through such a challenging education yet never develop the ability to think for themselves? scary!
