Doctors Leave 9 Needles In Brazilian Boy's Body

Brazilian doctors have decided not to immediately remove nine of the 31 needles found in a toddler's body because his life is no longer in danger.

Doctor Roque Aras said Tuesday that the remaining needles are small and don't pose a significant threat. Aras isn't ruling out future operations, however.

The 2-year-old boy had his third surgery in 10 days on Monday to extract four needles from his neck. Doctors removed 14 more from his intestines, liver and bladder last week, and four from near his heart and lungs earlier.

Police accuse the boy's stepfather, Roberto Carlos Magalhaes, and his lover of attempted murder, though prosecutors have not yet filed charges.

Magalhaes recently said in an interview with Globo TV that he tried to kill the child as revenge against his wife, with whom he fought a lot.

Magalhaes said he drugged the boy with wine and had his lover, Angelina Ribeiro dos Santos, hold the child down while he pushed needles into the body. He said the boy was too drunk to cry while the needles were inserted, but felt pain after the alcohol wore off.

Magalhaes said he thought the needles would work their way through the boy's body and kill him without anyone discovering. But the pain eventually led the boy to complain to his mother and X-rays revealed needles throughout his body.

children need to be protected, no matter what country they live in. The father needs to have needles inserted into his balls and then cap his ass.

this happenbs alot with bullets and bullet fragments , somtimes its more dangerous to go in and try to dig them out than to just leave them alone , last report I head was that the needles were rusting , they may desolve over time.

the man that did this is a complete sick fuck , he was trying to kill the child just to spite the mother.

I can't think of a punishment suited for such an animal , any death would be to quick

Damn. +1 to that, but let him spend the rest of his life in a prison. I'm sure the other prisoners would not take kindly to a guy that did something like that to a 2 yr old.

Just when you think you have heard it all! I dont care what country it's in..this father is sick! I cant think of a punishment that would be suited for this crime. I'll never understand how someone can harm a child..a baby..so helpless...poor kid! This kinda crazy shit just doesn't just happen in a 3rd world country..their are countless stories here in the US of abuse to babies and children that are just as bad if not worse. Yes, he will have to answer to God. But I'd feel better if the gov't of Brazil arranged his meeting with God a little sooner, rather than later.
