i love to hear people say this to me. i am not huge by any means, but i have gained alot of weight since my last show in august so guys at work or wherever will ask me stuff about lifting. my new nickname at work is balco which i just laugh off when they say it.
but what is funy is when a guy will be asking my advice on lifting and then he will say, " i dont wanna get too big" my response is always " dont worry, you won't!" people think if they just lift 3 times a week they will blow up into ronnie coleman! sometimes i will take the time to share the little knowledge i have gained about gaining muscle mass, but normally it falls on def ears.
or some guy who is 50-60 pounds overweight and has not seen a gym in his life will ask me what kind of "supplements" he can take to help cut up. when i tell them to get on a treadmill and quit eating twinkies by the dozen, their faces drop. they just want a magic pill to rip them up. no wonder the supplement industry is growing so much! anyways, i am sure some of you hear then same things so help me out with some new responses.
 
When someone in the gym asks me "How can I look like you?" I say, "work out for 30 years like I have"... that takes care of it.

Whenver someone tells me they wanna get bigger but not "too big" I say, "dont worry, its not gonna happen"
 
hahaha no joke! I never understand what these people are thinking.

I too say the same thing, and I EAT double or triple what you do. You eat one burger, I eat 3. you eat 1 chicken boobie I eat 3, you have a steak...I eat the whole cow.

I also ask them how consistant they have been over the years...I alaways get the response...I just hit the gym from January to April to get ready for the summer.

21 years of training here my friend...stick with it, it does not happen over night like everyone hopes and dreams.
 
Try owning a gym, you guys don't know how frustrating it is to hear guys and girls for that matter come in with, Oh but i don't wanna get too big or my absolute fav from the girls....but I bulk up real easy!!

I usually tell them some hard facts like.......I have been training for 30+ yrs and i don't feature on the cover of the mags.....so what chance have you got????

I usually just laugh and shake my head!!!!!
 
LOL i get this all the time.... ive grown immune to it. But my replies are the same as yours.

The worst is when a female says i dont want to get big and they dont want to lift weights because of it and they dont want to eat protein because they will get "buff". LOL news flash its not in your hormones for you to get big.

Ha, I heard that all the time when I was a PT. Pissed me off. Especially when their diet was pure candy and their test levels are at near 0

i hear this all the time., women who say i dont want to lift weights or i will get too big. i say ỳou wont, its not possible`. they reply saying they had a friend once who got huge lifting weights or whenever they lift they get huge. it is simply they are fat and they think someone being fat is muscular. the average woman who lifts weights and has low body fat levels would look very slim in clothes and these people all think they`d look huge and be muscular. the average person has no idea

exactly..... after the arguement (which i never win) i just say do cardio all day long and eat like a rabit :)

Yup, like your gonna wake up one morning with 20" arms by accident. "Damn, I knew I shouldn't have done that last set of curls!!!!"
 
The one thing that never fails to crack me the F-up is when guys tell me "I just wanna get my chest and arms bigger". And I say "what about the rest of your fat ass, what are your plans for that"?? BAHAHAHAHAHAA That shuts them right up and they never ask me again! BAHAHAHA


I swear to this day I remember this one kid about 22 or 23, wanted to try his very first cycle. So I told him what to get. He comes back to me and says , " i bought this, is this right"? And I said yes that's it. Kid was gonna do a 12 weeker. And he looks at me with the most serious face and says, "cool, cause I wanna get nice and cut and I just wanna make my shit stand out with this cycle".... mind you he was a pudgy thing to begin with, so I asked with the most serious face right back at him "did you make sure to get the instant I wanna get cut now Test"????? BAHAHAHAHA the kid was so confused! bahahaha
 
i love it when a fat guy tells me, " i bulk up real easy". my response is normally, "i can see you do". when i tell them how much food i eat, how i agonize over planning my nutrition around my work, how i train and rest just to look the way i do which is by no means anywhere near my goal physique, it shocks them. funny thing is fat guys never want to do what it takes to get lean and lean guys never want to do what it takes to get big.
one of the only exceptions, somewhat is my training partner. he is ike a little brother to me and had weighed 150 lbs forever. we started training together and he told me he had been lifting hard for a couple of years and had not gained a pound. when i asked him waht he was eating it became clear why. i gave him some diet tips, the only supplement he takes right now is muscle milk but he is eating like a horse and in three months is now 170lbs and lean. his strenght is going up and he is eager to do whatever it takes to get bigger.

its funny, he will kid with the really big guys in the gym and tell them he's 170 now that they better look out. lol.
 
ask what they eat

when someone comes up to me in the gym and asks what can they do to get that big or to "look like that" i simply ask them what they have eaten today (i train after 5pm) if they hesitate or stall then i tell em,"if you don't know what or when you have eaten, you don't have to worry about getting big." -STEELE
 
I also love the the" I used to bench 400lbs in HS. but I got out of it and just now getting back into it." If they were benching 400 in HS RAW why are they asking me shit. They already know what to do and I need to ask them. j.r.
 
Yah, lol this guy who tattoo's me is about 5'10" 160lbs and tells me back in highschool he threw up 500lbs raw after 1week of being on deca, LOL
