Too Much Cardio Off-season?

Hello, I recently finished a cut where I got leaner than ever and am planning to start pushing up.

During the end of this phase I’ve worked up to an hour of cardio fasted in the morning. However, I honestly very much like it. I enjoy doing the actual cardio once getting started, and it sets my day starting right.

As long as I pay attention to recovery (and of course make sure I am still eating enough to gain), I was planning to keep it in as I continue to gain.

What is the highest cardio in OFFSEASON you guys have done? Do you see any issues with this?

Keeping cardio in year round at 20-30 minutes 5-7 days a week will be one of the best things you can do for your health, progress and mental well being.

The whole cardio kills gains is outdated bro science (if that’s a thing LOL).

i imagine the more cardio that you do (fasted, in particular), the more you abuse gh without becoming significantly insulin resistant

i wouldn't necessarily recommend trying this out tho :/

I’d figure the more the better as long as recovery is okay really. Better health, nutrient partitioning, BG etc. just listen to your body I’d say.

I could be wrong, but didn’t both Ronnie and Kai do tons of stairmaster even off-season?

I added fasted cardio in to my training for the past 3 months while cutting (for the first time really ever).

Don't see me taking it back out, I'll keep it light and like @bbxtreme said the health benefits make it worth it.

We place so much emphasis on training every other muscle. Training the heart should be mandatory

There's so many benefits to it, plus it'll aid in digestion on a bulk when food intake can get pretty high

Thanks for the input guys. I’ll just keep as is then! Can always pull back if needed

The most I’ve done is 30 minutes while trying to gain weight, usually 20-30 minutes first thing AM. I’ve only had positive effects from it, especially insulin sensitivity.

As long as your diet supports it then keep doing it
I remember your old GHRP thread. Would rather turn to that than giving up my precious AM cardio! The high I have after is great and definitely more alert for work than rolling out of bed and logging right into a call like I used to 😬 😂

Yeah dude I wouldn’t fuck with the mojo you got going on

I love cardio and i believe is reason i can go as low as 30 sec rest between sets
This is a big reason I’m loving it as well. My endurance is great from it. Well… and the eq helps 😅

As long as you arent doing so much HIT everyday that you are overtaxing your CNS and your legs are constantly heavy you should be fine. Keep most of it it moderate/lower intensity, maybe some intervals on days it wont interefere with your leg workout, not too long and you should have great results health and performance wise.

If you want to nerd out on this topic, look into concurrent training and the interference effect, stuff like this: https://www.strongerbyscience.com/research-spotlight-interference-effect/

In a past i treated cardio as an addition to cutting cycle but now i dont need to do cutting cycle cause I am doing cardio. Cardio is as important as weight training as they both compliment each other.

I've been doing a measly 12-16 minutes of HIIT (6-8 rounds, 1 ,min walk/1 min run at 165-175 HR) after every training session for a few months now and my cardiovascular fitness has skyrocketed. Also, when I used to do 30-45minutes of LISS everyday (years ago) my HDL came back at 71.
