I keep getting ads about these double edge safety razors and how it’s so much better than cartridge razor. It’s like a cult.

I bought one and did two shaves and cut my self frequently.

for those that use de safety razor I hear there is a learning curve. Should I stick with it? My hardest areas are around my jaw line and under my neck where hair grows in all different directions.

I have Harry's blades and handle and these are great. No nick no fuss.

I'm still cutting myself everyday with those razors. I'm almost going back to the three blade smooth glide ones

Safety razors are awesome… once you get the hang of them.

1st is getting a good quality safety razor. Weight is your friend here. Get something that has a good weight to it. $50 and it’ll last forever. Won’t rust. Indestructible.

The Germans have been doing this right for years. Go Merkur, Bovem, Muhle, etc. With the gay plastic disposable razors they whored us onto, you press the cheap lightweight blade into your skin. With a safety razor, you let the weight of the razor do the work. Press and you’ll cut yourself.

2nd is taking your time. This is a ritual, not a race. But you’ll get a much closer shave so in the end it’s worth it.

The blades cost literally nothing. Like 50 blades for $10. Harry’s charges $2 a cartridge. That’s a ripoff in comparison. And buying Gillette at Walmart is even more expensive.

Best results as with everything is frequency of use. If I shave every day, it’s easy as can be with great results (no cuts). If I let it grow a week, it’ll take longer and I’ll nic myself at least once.

That's what I'm doing wrong. I'm pressing the razor instead of just pulling gently. Thanks for the tip dude

I purchased a merker and just now ordered a pearl where you can use a dial and change the aggressiveness level.

Hardest part is under the chin, and then jaw line. But i saw a video you need high fat shaving cream and proper application with a brush. so ordered those too. Lets see.

I dont know if it is just placebo, or its real but the skin does look better. Got a compliment too, from an old lady yesterday... "you are a nice looking fella...." all though her cognitive abilities were a bit questionable...

Get a decent razor with good weight to it. I’d suggest a Merkur and make sure it is a closed comb style. They are less aggressive than an open comb. Literally all you need to do is the let the weight of razor guide you. Don’t press or apply pressure. Also, need to be aware of the angle you are holding the razor.

It is a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang out it there is no comparison to a regular cartridge razor. I never went back after I switched.

Lastly, try different blades and find one you like. I usually use Astra blades. They are super cheap as well. Probably like $20 bucks for a 100 pack on Amazon.

^^^lol ..IME; yeah this never gets better

..get yourself a 7-Blade-Razor ..BIC's are great ..& the blades seem to last longer

^^^honestly don't think anyone would ever consider a "Safety-Razor" after using a 7-Blade-Razor

..decide that you'r worth it
..compromise elsewhere

the difference is night-&-day ..you'll thank yourself

.
