Wanted to get a concrete answer to this question. I have seen stated many times that LBA's do NOT affect BG to a great degree and wanted to find out for sure.

Ok first test:

1. Performed after one hour of fasted AM cardio.
2. Average fasting BG in the AM has been 64.
3. 6 tbsp of LBA's vanilla flavor was consumed immediately following first BG reading. Contents 36g glycerol and 30g protein.
4.Subsequent tests at 30 mins, 1:00 hour, and 1:30.

Results:
Initial: 67
30mins: 79
60 mins: 87
90 mins: 73

Not conclusive but obviously LBA's affect BG to a minor degree.

An hour after 80g protein from whey and 60g carbs from oats has me at 124.

I would consider 30 points and up to be a large increase.

Well

Do the blood sugar test again but do not eat anything......tell me those numbers and compare them.........I would say its the protein that is a minor player here.........believe me, LBAs will not save you if you need a spike in BG levels......to me that is not a raise in BG levels....so I say no.

Phil I think the results back up what you have been saying. The rise that was seen, and subsequent fall at the 90 minute mark, were do the protein IMO. I agree that they are safe as far as BG elevations go. Not once did I go above what would be considered a fasting BG level.

Just to clarify you would like me to do a fasted BG reading at the same intervals?

Also after morning cardio as above

Ok I will run the next test one week from today. Overall I think the results were GOOD. I like the fact that we can take these and keep insulin quite.

Nice...

Thanks for doing this, I've always wanted to, but didn't feel like getting a machine just for that. I think this will help answer ALOT of people's constant asking the same thing over and over.

As a nurse, can I suggest (very similar to Phil's suggestion)...
1) Take fasting glucose in AM.
2) Take usual LBA amount.
3) Then test 30, 60 and 90 minutes later (with little to not activity during that time).

Thanks again... good solid contribution.

That is perfect.

Despite being post cardio(a very casual walk) this test was done in the AM fasted with a baseline BG that was in range when compaired to the last 11 samples I have taken in a fasted AM state. That being said all future tests will be done after no exercise.

I am Type 1 diabetic. LBA's do not mess with my sugars at all. Keep in mind the meters will not test the same each test. You can test and say get a count of 60, then test immediately after and have a reading of 75 to 80

Probably won't matter, but...

At least that way it's the most detailed and free of variables just to help answer any "trouble-makers." Thanks again.

Good call. Thanks for the good ideas guys.
