Got some type of virus or malware

Opened up an email that's a generic one I get from my building's cluster office about packages. This one was a fake, and before I downloaded it said caught a trogan. So I backed out, and didn't download it.

However, it still came into play and effects my computer.

Every 20 seconds I get a "Windows Explorer has stopped working", followed by a "Windows Explorer is restarting" and then it pauses my computer for a few seconds, refreshes, and repeats.

What do I do?

Have you run your anti-virus or a spyware program to detect anything ?
