Sorry for the cheesiness/corniness... but as I shared a while ago, this is pretty much the only place for me to talk bodybuilding (I work with all women and keep in my "zone" at the gym) and although my Wife is getting serious about BB now, and I sometimes post on one other board, this is really my "home" to share my thoughts about BB.
Quick preface- The past 16 weeks I decided to finally turn it up a notch and get serious about bodybuilding and my health and hired a trainer. At 6'1 (no rounding ), I started at a bloated 250lbs and so far have "only" lost 15 lbs. BUT- I'm significantly stronger, pants are quite loose and I've gone down a couple belt notches. Finally starting to even see a couple VERY small veins in my quads (no, not varicose ). You won't be grating cheese off my abs anytime soon but my overall definition has improved a lot.
My point is- despite these positive changes, it's always a little "weird" to not be losing weight yet (I've stayed the same weight for about 12 weeks) but still experiencing these changes (I take progress pics every 4 weeks). Granted, I know my composition is changing but at the same time, the numbers can make it such a mind game, I still ask myself "Am I improving? Am I getting anywhere?"
Main story- last week I saw a friend in the gym I hadn't seen in a couple months and he runs up behind me with this huge smile on his face, "Wow man, you lost a lot of weight!" Then today in the gym, this one guy I regularly see in the gym (but have never had a conversation with) just randomly comes up to me (I was with my Wife so I know he wasn't making a "pass" at me hahaha) and says, "Hey, you're thin now!"
These were particularly encouraging b/c unless someone is a pro or national level competitor, guys don't usually compliment other guys (men are really nothing more than mammalian peacocks a lot of times).
Again, sorry for the cheesiness post, but it was such an encouragement to me I really wanted to share it.
