wondering if yall guys aim for like less than a gram, one gram, one and a half, or two grams per pound of body weight when cutting? on a low carb diet and have heard your suppose to burn more than you consume?
totally depends on the person body type and so on i am an ectomorph i weigh 265 when i am cutting i will take 500 grams of protien a day protien doesnt really get stored as fat its really hard for your body too store as fat. so its not the biggest concern carbs and fat are the big concern on your diet and i just noticed you posted a thread about insuln i really hope you dont try to cut while takin insulin man not a good idea
no insulin when cutting i know better than that, but is 2 grams of protien when cutting really nesacary for you, are you lifting daily? do you estimate you burn more than you consume
the protein helps your body not burn muscle when cutting fats and carbs. it's not a good idea to cut protein, fat and carbs because your body will turn to your muscles fro protein and you'll actually get weaker and smaller. the key is only to lose fat and tighten the skin so protein actually needs to be increased. i have done the eat less cutting thing when i was young and didnt know any better but we all learn from our mistakes...your body might be different thought but thats the rule of thumb for most.
Large amount of protein is needed when cutting in order to maintain muscle. If you try to drop weight by simply cutting calories you might end up loosing a lot of muscle mass. Though I have never done 2g before, 1.5 has always been sufficient for me.
When I'm cutting I have typically done 1.5g of protein and 0.5g fat per pound of body weight with 40-50g high fiber cruciferous veggies daily and 30-60g high GI carbs post workout depending on the size of the body parts worked.

benefit of protein is a higher thermic effect compared to carbohydrates and fats. Eating, digesting, and assimilating protein requires a higher energy output and thus keeps your metabolism revved up all day long. I found this info in a Massive G thread in the Articles Section here, check it:
"Protein will serve you a dual role in body modification in that it is as important for body fat reduction as it is for muscular gains. In regards to body fat reduction, protein has a specific dynamic action on the metabolism which means that when you ingest protein, your metabolic rate is elevated higher and remains elevated longer than when you ingest either fats or carbohydrates. A high carb meal will only elevate your metabolism from 4 to 30 percent above normal. This small elevation will last only 2 to 5 hours. A high protein meal however will elevate your metabolism by up to 70 percent above normal and this effect can last as long as 10 to 12 hours."
I think higher protein (2g/lb. or so) while trying to reduce bodyfat is a good idea.
