HCTZ for sodium/potassium balance

Anyone use this and see a noticeable effect? I have been planning to add it to my telmisartan for blood pressure control.

I was curious, does HCTZ help maintain balance between potassium and sodium and aid in your kidneys maintaining a good balance, or does it completely flush and will ultimately make one need to up their electrolyte intake?

It is a more potent kaliuretic than furosemide. It would not be uncommon to require K+ supplementation if taking HCTZ. The catch there though is that it can balance the potential for
ARBs/ACE-Is to cause hyperkalemia. Only your labs can tell. Do you get hyperK+ w telmisartan?
Also, if you want HCTZ for anti-HTN purpose then chlorthalidone is a better option

I will add though, from personal experience chlorthalidone was a little too potent for me. Its duration of effect is longer which can be a good thing of course but I didn't care for it. I found HCTZ a lot easier to control.

While with testosterone only Telmisartan will raise my potassium to the upper reference range or above. Adding HCTZ puts potassium right back into the middle of the reference. So yes, it helps with the hyperk+ effect that is caused by Telmisartan.

One thing I noticed: DHTs like primo or masteron pretty much do the same thing like HCTZ. So I rather add primo to my test-cyp and have the same potassium balancing effect.

There's a couple things with HCTZ that you actually dont want. It can and will worsen your insulin sensitivity, it will also make your lipid profile worse (higher ldl, higher triglycerides) and it can and likely will raise your hematocrit.
If you are on gear then you dont want that.
